Austin Stuff Guide

BAKERY/BREAKFAST/BRUNCH:

Snooze an A.M. Eatery ($$)

-”We both got the Benny Duo with different benedicts. I got the Chilaquiles and the Goodman, and she got the ham and the Bella Bella. THEY WERE ALL DELICIOUS!! the house hash was pretty legit too.”

-”The poached eggs are always perfect, the hollandaise sauce tasty, the whole plate comes out looking like a million bucks (and tastes like it, too).”

-”So glad I finally had the chance to check this place out this morning -- it was AMAZING. I got the Benny Duo, with the Chilaquiles Benedict + Benny Goodman, and both were delicious! The chilaquiles one was probably my favorite of the two, topped with some dannnkkkkk barbacoa beef, and the sauce on the other one was seriously to die for!”

-”As for bang for your buck, it's the best, and you will leave Full!! This review is for 2 things...Pulled Pork and Chicken Sausage..Both are a must try item.”

Juan in a Million ($$)

-”Juan in a Million is the place to go for Tex-Mex breakfast in Austin! I've come here many times and tend to get the classic Don Juan. You get a ton of food for what you pay! I always have a couple tacos worth of leftovers afterwards. Everything I've tried here has been delicious!”

-”The Don Juan is so filling and will satisfy your carb and cheese cravings. It's even great as leftovers. Overall, the food is pretty good with huge portions, especially for the price. Can't wait to come back to try the chorizo!”

-”The quintessential hungover breakfast taco place (in my opinion). What do I want when I'm hungover? One mound of egg, cheese, bacon, and potato please! Juan in a Million delivers this good service time and time again when I come Saturday for brunch.”

South Congress Cafe ($$)

-”When you walk into the restaurant, you are immediately blown away by the elegant, yet inviting decor. The lighting inside is spectacular with plenty of natural light and just the right tone and brightness of artificial light. My selfies have never looked better!”

-”The spaghetti squash entree is heaven on earth.”

-”The French toast hit the spot. It was like a fluffier carrot cake with a hint of French toast taste. It comes with a pecan glaze on the side which was also really good.”

-”First off, you get 20% off your bill if you sit at the bar.”

-”What they're known for, and what you really gotta order, is the carrot cake french toast. It's literally carrot cake (soft, moist and tender) made into french toast, dusted with powdered sugar, and served with a pecan cream cheese syrup. For $5, you can also add venison sausage or bacon. Definitely go with the venison sausage because that is unique!”

-”I had the Jalapeño Venison Meatloaf (and easy 5th star).  This was the best tasting meatloaf I have ever had anywhere, anytime, from any kitchen.  Divine.”

As soon as you walk in and are greeted and seated by the friendly wait staff, you'll get their complimentary spicy popcorn to munch on while you decide which mouth-watering dish to order off of their menu, complete with innovative takes on American comfort food.”

-”Finally made it here for brunch. Magazines rave about it. It is unusual in that it is truly breakfast and lunch. You can get eggs as well as chicken fingers and pasta. The food is eclectic.”

Magnolia Cafe ($)

-”Took in brunch here and ordered mac & cheese with broccoli and spinach on the side. The portions were very generous to the point I couldn't finish the mac & cheese. Flavor-wise, each item gets high marks.”

-”Coffee for free when you walk in for those who are waiting, really cute cafe.”

-”Awesome little place that serves breakfast all day long among other choices.  We enjoyed having mimosas with our brunch.  My wife loved the migas, and I had the Eggscape which Eggs, cheese, potatoes and sausage!!  Very popular place and parking is tight!”

-”The menu had a large variety from several types of eggs Benedict, breakfast tacos, and omelets. Nursing a nice hangover, I went with the Three Alarm Tacos. They were good (not San Antonio breakfast taco good, but good - sorry I just had to).”

Biscuits and Groovy ($)

-”The biscuits were fluffy, golden and melted in your mouth. The gravy was seasoned great and the sausage on top was a nice touch. I wish the sausage would be mixed in with the gravy for some more flavor, but overall, great experience.”

-”Delicious biscuits topped with amazingness. They smother open-faced biscuits with sausage, cheese, jalapenos, bacon, etc and it is incredible. A great (and filling) breakfast spot. But get there early so you don't have to wait in line. Getting there when they first open is the best route. You should always order biscuits to go with jam too. SO GOOD.”

-”Order at counter and they bring you your food. I got the Gloria Gaynor, which is three biscuits, gravy, cheese, bacon, sausage, and gravy. Wow. Best $11 spent on the trip. Highly recommend this place. Only downside is parking is tricky.”

-”Best part of the M.C. Hammer was its heartwarming gravy on fluffy biscuits! Great start to my morning at a cute food truck. Warning: parking is only available in the neighborhood.”

Kerbey Lane Cafe ($$)

-”You know what I really like about Kerbey Lane? It's an Austin classic, it's homey, it's where you chill with your friends over plates of anytime breakfast plates and mimosas, where you sip espresso and catch up on some work or take your mother to when everything else is closed and you're too lazy to cook at home.”

-”PLEASE order the lemon poppyseed pancakes too. Oh me oh my! These are delicious! I'm talking this is a straight up  treat for breakfast. Not overly sweet but definitely not your average pancake. The lemon glaze was the icing (hahaha) on top. Fluffy, flavorful and maybe more dense than usual. But man, it's good!”

-”Kerby Lane's food makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.  When I first moved to Austin I came here for one thing: the famed Gingerbread Pancakes, and this remains one my favorites.  But I'm never satisfied with a meal of just pancakes, which why my "go to" here is the Breakfast Platter.  It is perfect: eggs, fruit, bacon, and pancakes (I opt for either gingerbread or blueberry)!”

-GET THE KERBEY QUESO. You seriously won’t regret it. I remember my freshman year of college, my friends and I would just come here JUST for a large size of the queso. It’s so freaking good. Holy crap man.

Paperboy ($)

-”If your tastebuds are requiring a wake up - Paperboy should be at the top of your list!”

-”My husband and I ordered the pork belly breakfast hash.  At first it didn't look like much, but once you dig in for your first bite - that little container is FULL of the most flavorful deliciousness you will ever put in your mouth!  The poached eggs were THE BEST I've ever had.  Poached to perfection, with nice bright orange yolks - a work of art!”

-”The food only seemed to last minutes on the table. Before we knew it everything had been immediately consumed. The hash, a go-to breakfast that I regularly make at home, was really delicious. the egg was perfect. The kale was crunchy. The potatoes were soft but not mushy.”

-”The B.E.C sandwich is one of a kind. I am trying out the Potato Hash next”

-”The food was a little more expensive than I thought it should've been but it was overall aesthetically well presented and made to perfection! The only real disappointment was the weather and no parking lot.”

Blue Dahlia Bistro ($$)

-”I've come here on multiple occasions because their tartines (open-faced sandwiches) are just phenomenal. I've tried the hummus tartine as well as the chicken salad. But this past experience, I had the turkey tartine and it is by far my favorite. The chipotle aioli that they poured over the turkey and avocado was mind blowingly delicious.”

-”The only downside is that they run out of their frittatas and baked goods wayyyy tooo quickly. But, so worth the trip!”

-”The happy hour! $5 giant glass of champagne? Yes please. This glass was double at least the size you would get at happy hour in Brooklyn and better quality.”

-”The day I discovered their Happy Hour (3:00-6:30pm, M-F) it's become my all time favorite brunch, lunch, early dinner location.”

-”Blue Dahlia is an Austin must! Great French cuisine with a large menu for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would highly recommend for any meal! Restaurant has intimate atmosphere but good for groups as well. The tartines are super popular, but I also really love the cheese plate here as well as the goat cheese salad.”

-”Did you know you can get the tartines during happy hour for super cheap?!? They're reasonably priced regardless actually.”

Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden ($$)

-”Came here right after running the Austin half marathon (nbd). We had the ultimate motivation for getting across the finish line: manmosas. Brunch here is fantastic and I highly recommend the banger's breakfast sandwich, which has a poached egg and breakfast sausage.”

-”Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden is awesome if you love sausage and love beer. I happen to be a fan of both so it was a great visit. They have 30 different kinds of sausage, over 100 types of beer on draft and a great ambiance.”

-”Come with good company. The wait was nearly an hour to seat four people. We all knew this coming in and were okay with that. So be prepared. But Rainey Street is super cool and photogenic so we walked around looking in at all the bars and restaurants.”

-”The Food!!! Do yourself a favor, and get the weirdest thing on the menu. Each of us had a different dish, and they did everyone incredibly.”

-”I'm not saying that I'm a serial killer, but if I were a serial killer on death row... my last meal would be the Veggie BLT from Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden.  I can't give it enough stars.”

-”Had the baked Brie, congress burger with truffle pomme frites and it was absolutely delicious. Will be back for sure worth the trouble of finding parking in downtown.”

Bouldin Creek Cafe ($) [Vegan]

-”Bouldin Creek Cafe doesn't disappoint. I've been here a few times, and have left happy and full each time. We usually start off with the nachos, and add soyrizo, and they are delicious.”

-”Their breakfast is always wonderful. The tofu scramble is to DIE FOR. Seriously. The last few times I've gone, I've gotten the Wanna-BLT. Their homemade facon (fake bacon?) is so good. GET IT.”

-”We get the chips and salsa to start because 1) free refills and 2) it's kind of spicy/full of flavor, which is oftentimes hard to find in a salsa.”

-”This is a friendly place with a quirky, hipster vibe that has a great variety of vegetarian and vegan options. It was great to see all of the different options, both breakfast and dinner style.”

-”*First, a Tip: Ask for Yellowbird spicy sauce! Support local Austin food startups, and it tastes amazing with the Tofu Scramble (even better than Sriracha--or better, mix them together).”

-”Super delicious brunch! Our server Woodie was so friendly! The mimosa was tumbler sized and $5! (In NYC it would be 1/4 of the size and $11) everything is bigger in Texas!!”

Irene’s ($$)

-”They use bread from Easy Tiger and it was super delicious. The bacon on the sandwich was cooked to perfection, and the aioli was bursting with flavor. My friend enjoyed their Veggie sandwich so no complaints on quality of food from either of us.”

-”They have happy hour all day on Sunday. It's $2 off for all snacks, and they also offer $5 sangrias. Wait wasn't bad at all since we killed time by taking pictures at the infamous Irene's wall.”

-”Stuffed Biscuit with Gravy - Oh my goodness. This was really good. The gravy literally melts inside your mouth, and the stuffed biscuit was full of flavor.”

-”Based on my experience, brunch = yes! Dinner, maybe not.”

-”Pimento Cheese & Saltines - MY FAVORITE appetizer. I am never one to recommend ordering pimento cheese, but I am SO HAPPY a co-worker did because this was my favorite app. I would def say to order this again a great sharable (or don't share) - super yummy.”

-”ABW Black Thunder Vegetarian Chili - I am not one to ever order vegetarian dishes, but my manager wanted to share and I LOVE CHILI! I was definitely amazed at how flavorful the chili was to be vegetarian. Irene's did a GREAT job with this!”

Cafe Java ($)

-"Eggs done perfectly, good sausage and big fluffy biscuits and gravy. You will not lose weight here but you won't leave hungry either."

-"This morning was our 1st time at Cafe Java, but definitely not our last! The food was very solid and the service was fantastic! We tried a breakfast taco, biscuits with gravy, hash browns, pancakes, and bacon. Everything dish was tasty and the prices are great for what you get!"

-"Super breakfasts including really good pancakes that have a perfect level of sweet. Take a look at their "The Java" breakfast at the very top of their breakfast menu. A great deal and my favorite."

-"Check out the daily specials on their board before you decide. They always have good, interesting stuff on there."

-"The key to this place is that everything came out fresh. Sausage, hash browns, toast, pancakes all still had that light, crispy crust which completely makes it. Pro tip: ask for bananas in your pancakes!!!!!"

LUNCH/DINNER:

Home Slice Pizza ($$)

-”My favorite pizza in Austin, hands down! Great NY style pie with perfect crust that has that great combination of crispness and chew that makes great thin pizza. Their sauce is fantastic, with a slight sweetness but a great flavor of Italian spices. Their prices are a little higher than most other places, but the best pizza in Austin is worth the price.”

-”The pizza dough was good and didn't get soggy underneath all the sauce and toppings. Personally, I thought they overloaded some of their pizzas with too much ricotta, but I'm sure that's a bonus for people who enjoy their pizzas extra cheesy.”

-”The slices are huge (great value for cost). They had a respectable amount of toppings. What immediately stood out to me was the perfect crispness despite being thin big pizza. It immediately reminded me of the famous Joe's Pizza in west village New York. So. Pretty high praise here. I'll def be back!”

-I really LOVEEEEE the spinach pizza. The absolute best. Also you can go next door called “More Home Slice” so that you can get it by the slice instead of the whole pie.

Via 313 Pizza ($$)

-”The staff was friendly and the Detroiter was soooo good. So much cheese, y'all. So. Much. Cheese. I will definitely be back.”

-”I have tried many of the specialty pizzas on the menu. I love the crust and how the cheese goes all they way to the edge of the pizza.  The cheese will fry to the sides of the crust and pan and that's just one more reason why they are so good.”

-”Via 313 is known for their Detroit-style pizza which is a square pizza with a thick deep dish crust twice baked - so if you like deep dish, this is a good place to try! There are plenty of combinations to get here!”

-”Via 313 has the BEST pizza! Seriously they have the 2nd best pizza I've ever tasted! It's super crispy and has just the right amount of cheese and sauce and not too greasy.
My favorite pizza is The Cadillac with gorgonzola, fig preserves and balsamic glaze on top. It's too die for. A great combination of flavors. I have not had pizza with those toppings anywhere else.”

Torchy’s Tacos ($)

-”Oh. My. God. Came here for lunch while in Austin on business and had to come back again the next day because it was THAT GOOD.”

-”I need more time to settle the Torchy's vs. Tacodeli debate...regardless, they're both Tier-1 taco establishments.”

-”The beef taco (aka The Democrat) was awesome.  The Green Chili Pork taco was MIND BLOWING GOOD!!!  Excellent margaritas too!! My wife grew up in Tucson and said that these were THE BEST tacos that she's EVER eaten!!”

-”While they're an Austin chain, they have delicious tacos and amazing queso at a reasonable price. The green chile taco, the Democrat and the trailer park tacos are my favorite.”

-My favorite tacos that I always get at Torchy’s are the Baja Shrimp and the Democrat. You especially cannot pass up on the Baja Shrimp. IT’S SO GOOD. The sauce that goes with it is spectacular. My problem is how many tacos to order. If i get one, I feel like it’s not enough, but if I get two, it’s too much for me! Therefore you gotta get some chips and salsa! Sometimes I go there JUST for that. It’s so addicting. I LOVEEEE love the Chipotle Ranch as the salsa. HANDS DOWN. THE. BEST.

Chuy’s ($$)

-One of the best places for happy hour (Mon-Fri: 4-7pm) because they have unlimited nachos at the nacho cart and $4.75 margaritas (you can them flavored, swirled, etc!). Also if you do eat there, it’s such a great deal to get their Combinations, because I got their #6 Enchilada, Tacos, and Chalupa for only about ~10 and that fed me for dinner that night and lunch AND dinner the following day. Don’t forget to ask for their jalapeno ranch salsa! It’s really addicting with their never ending tortilla chips!

-”This was quite possibly one of the best experiences I've had in Austin. The food was fantastic, but our service was absolutely incredible.”

-”The original! A trip to Austin is not complete without the taste of Chuy's green chili stew. It's HOT, dang hot, nose running but you can't stop eating hot, and man is it good. The rest of the menu is just as flavorful featuring FRESH, homemade sauces, great marinated and well-cooked meats and veggies, and well-seasoned sides.”

-”Both quesos were awesome, and the free salsa & chips were delicious. I got their daily special - the wild burrito, which was HUGE! Great place if you're very hungry and looking for tons of Tex Mex!!”

-”Chuy's is my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant! Their salsa and creamy jalapeño is so delicious. I love their frozen margaritas! I love it when they have the prickly pear and the white peach sangria flavors.”

Taco Joint ($)

-THIS IS THE BEST TACO PLACE IN AUSTIN FOR ME. Legit nothing else matters but Taco Joint. I crave this multiple times whenever I go back home. My favorite that I have gotten since Day 1 are the Street Tacos. Now to make it mouth watering good. You gotta put the avocado green sauce AND the orange chipotle ranch sauce on top. Wow I’m salivating just thinking about it. That sauce combo is amazing. I use it for any other tacos I order from there too. I also recommend the el 4/20 taco. It’s delicious!

-”By far the best taco place in town. Living in Austin for 4.5 years I've had my fair share of different tacos but this one takes the cake. Order the Crockett tacos. It will change your life.
Don't expect much when it comes to looks of the place or even organization. It is always a cluster and quite confusing on where to order (you actually order next door at São Paulo) but THE TACO IS WORTH IT.”

-”We got the fish, pork carnitas, and the street taco. I highly recommend the street taco. Normally I struggle when eating tacos, but what I really enjoyed was that the taco was big enough so the ingredients wouldn't fall out.”

-”Your blown will be mind when you taste the tacos here. They have a good selection of everything, but it all comes down to their sauces; they're so good. I come here with a friend pretty often and we always contemplate on what we want to get. We end up getting 3 fried fish tacos each.”

-”I'm not even sure how best to describe the tacos other than they were -perfectly- seasoned and cooked and I am in love “

-”Before even chewing my first bite, I conceded that it beat my favorite tacos joints in Chicago and New York.”

-”Incredibly cheap. Got the Cowboy, Conquistador and Papadulce, all of which I'd highly recommend (probably in that order).”

-”Go on Saturday and get the Delibelly! It's a pork belly and avocado taco, and it's THE SHIT, hands down! Just go ahead and get two because you're gonna want another one when you finish it! I also got the Migas bc I wanted a breakfast taco, and I would definitely recommend it.”

-”Omg. I literally have no complaints about this place. The wait is long since prepared but not too long that you won't be able to get to the order. The staff were so friendly and helpful! I got the cowboy, shrimp taco and Mija and everything tasted so authentic and flavorful. Every bite was goodness every ingredient was perfection for the time of meat.”

Hopdoddy Burger Bar ($$)

-“One the best burgers I've had. Just right amount of bun to meat ratio. Good bun too. Well seasoned. We tried shroom burger. Creamy, delightful.”

-”Condiments and Drinks are self serve. Their soda fountain is Maine Root sodas, which is so yummy!! I get the Prickly Pear Lemonade. Such a pretty color and so refreshing!”

-I always get their Good Night burger and the Truffle fries. GET THE TRUFFLE FRIES! YUM.

-”Fries were golden, crispy and mixed with fresh chopped herb. So yummy dipped in the chipotle ketchup, which has a nice smoky heat, or the honey mustard, that was really tangy and sweet with flakes of herb and pepper.”

-”THE TRUFFLE FRIES. Get them and thank me later. YUM YUM YUM!!! They seem a little pricey, but it's a good size, and they taste delicious, especially with the dipping sauce.”

-”The wait is worth it. Trust me. I wouldn't wait 30 minutes for a burger anywhere else - you will not regret it.”

-”I enjoyed the Llano Poblano burger and an order of fries with green chili queso.  The burger was juicy and left me with a craving to come back as soon as possible.”

-”It's very busy, but the line moves if you are patient. It's worth the wait. The food is delicious and the beer is cold. It's the kind of place that you order and then they bring you your food, so there is no real wait staff other than that.”

Jack Allen’s Kitchen ($$)

-”Chicken Nachitos & the Red Chili Fries are what I had the pleasure of enjoying. For my beverage I sipped on a Tito's vodka drink with elderflower etc.=minty & smooth.”

-This is like on many of the top fries in Austin lists. You should definitely try the Red Chile Fries. It’s really different and tasty! Also the portions are huge!! I made a mistake and ordered too much when I celebrated my 2nd anniversary there 🙂

-”I've been to Jack Allen's so many times. Anniversaries, birthdays, graduation celebration... so many things and all three locations lol. I have NEVER been disappointed.”

-”I love that they start you off with a sample of their homemade pimento cheese- I'd never liked pimento cheese until I had theirs!”

-”I highly suggest trying their smashed guacamole, it has pumpkin seeds and cotija (white crumbly Mexican) cheese on it and while it sounds kinda funky it takes it to another level taste wise! So so good!”

-”Great food. Healthy portions. Cold drinks.  Friendly staff.   Gets busy for dinner and parking in the evening can be a challenge.  Free valet service.”

Franklin Barbecue ($$)

-It’s seriously amazing. The brisket melts in your mouth like butter. My favorite bbq sauce out of the three is the sweet one. I think it’s the lighter brown color. Don’t forget to try the sausage too! What’s great is that when you get to the meat cutting station, they let you try anything. And it’s a generous sample portion too! Be prepared for a huge long wait because people start lining up at 6:30am-7am waiting for the place to open at 11am. Get a group of friends and a pack of cards and you’re good to go. They also have chairs you can borrow to sit on in line too. You could also bring your own in case they run out of chairs.

-”Best brisket I've had.  Anywhere.  Waited in line for about an hour.  During the wait they brought out pulled pork sandwich samples (free) and beer ($4) for us.   Not sure this is normal so don't expect it or be rude and ask.  The service was excellent all the way around. “

-”The type of meat that would solve global warming and end terrorism. This the type of meat that make a woman cheat on a man with a secure job and a credit score of 800. I already knew Obama cutted here. I already knew Kanye got rejected. I already knew Gordon Ramsey said it was brilliant. I knew it was going to be long, but not 5 hours long.”

-”I appreciated that there's someone who comes along the line taking orders to get a sense of inventory and timing.”

-”Luckily, as we were browsing their website, we noticed an option to order in advance online for takeout. SCORE! Sure, you have to order a minimum of 5 pounds and the prices per pound are a little bit higher than the sit-down prices, but to me, it was absolutely worth the convenience and lack of a wait.”

-”My favorites were the ribs, followed closely by the brisket. I can't do the food here enough justice with anything I could possibly write, it was that good. Everything was very well flavored with the simple spices they use, and the ribs were the most tender fall-off-the-bone ribs I've ever had.”

Chi’Lantro ($)

-”Long story short, I ordered the fries with the bulgogi ribeye beef.  The sauce made it amazing and the Kimchi itself was killer. We also had the burger with the beef and the rice bowl with the beef. Their sauces are insane and the flavor of the Kimchi and the beef are incredible.”

-”If you are reading this and you've never been chilantro  before, get in your car and drive there immediately. This is the second location I've had the privilege of eating at and I wasn't disappointed. The food has so much flavor, amazing texture, and is visually appetizing.”

-”They swear by the kimchi fries so I ordered it with beef and was not disappointed. My only complaint is the price is a bit high for what it is. The fries come in a standard sized paper tray but are definitely filling given the small portion.”

-”This place has got all of my favorites, French fries, kimchi and rice bowls. What a great place to go! The Original Kimchi Fries is a no doubter to get every time I go there! There is just the right amount of bulgogi, kimchi, french fries and sauces on top. Give it a try for an American/Korean fusion treat!”

The Salt Lick ($$)

-”I've never experienced Texas BBQ before but after trying this place, I'm 100% sure I had a true Texas BBQ experience.”

-”Salt Lick is completely out of the way. You have to set a full day aside just to drive out there, grab some drinks at their bar, eat here, hang out on the patio, then spend a couple hours digesting all the deliciousness.”

-”The Salt Lick is south of Austin about 40 minutes but worth the drive. You'll know you're getting close because you can smell the delicious smoke of the meats being cooked over the large fire pit. We got the sausage and brisket platter. Each platter comes with baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw; while all the side are good the meats are the real star!”

-”The Salt Like BBQ - a quick drive outside of Austin, you get to see more of the rural side of Texas. One would say that you should wait at Franklin's for 5 hours, but the Salt Lick doesn't have that bad of a wait if you want to eat inside (which we opted for) and there is a to-go option as well.”

-”Overall, a place to experience in Driftwood area right outside of Austin. They do have an AYCE option, which I find to be quite extreme. It is worth it if you are REALLY hungry, but honestly, one plate is Texas size, so for a non-Texan is two portion sizes! It's popular, so BYOB, enjoy the great Texas weather (if it is good that day), and get in that live music jam at the Salt Lick BBQ.”

Lucy’s Fried Chicken ($$)

-”Loved the chicken...I took it to go, and packed it on the plane.  Place was slammed and I'm happy I was able to get in and out quickly.”

-”Fried chicken that leaves you wishing for more the next day, and the next, is generally a good sign.  This was the case after my first visit to Lucy's just off of South Lamar this past weekend.  While it's true that it's rare for me to meet a fried bird I don't like, Lucy's version is very well done.”

-”Lucy's is known for their innovative take on comfort food and fried chicken. From chicken boudin to chicken spaghetti there is surely something there to tickle your fancy.”

-”Fried chicken should be crisp and flavorful on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. Lucy's is spot on every time! I love to eat and I think I can handle my own most of the time so ordering the 4-piece mixed basket plus sides puts me into a lovely food coma.”

-”I've had the majority of sides and these are my favs: corn on the cob, slaw, potato salad, grits, and mashed potatoes. I really wish they had creamed corn! Can't forget too how amazing the cornbread muffins are too! I call it a side but it's actually its own entree haha but the mac n cheese is perfection.”

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken ($)

-”Awesome place to grab fried chicken! It originated from Memphis but gained great popularity among locals in Austin nonetheless. The price is quite cheap. You can get a satisfying meal under $10. My favorite is the spicy chicken pieces (dark meat aka legs). But their white meat is juicy as well. The best part is that their breading isn't thick like some other fried chicken. The outside crispy layer adds just the right amount of flavors to the chicken. And when you bite into the meat, you can taste the inside is marinated with the spicy sauce as well!”

-”But the food. Yes..... Spicy but not too spicy chicken, it came out hit and fast. It was fresh and juicy....It was literally everything you expect from hot chicken and if you've never had hot chicken, stahp! Go in check out the very some menu and hold on for bold taste and juicy freaking chicken.”

-”This place isn't a typical downtown type of restaurant; more like a diner style, so keep it casual.”

-”This place was so excellent. Everything about it was so perfect. The fried chicken was so perfectly crispy while the meat was extremely tender and juicy. I got the leg and thigh combo with coleslaw. I think two pieces of meat is actually a bit of a small portion size so I ended up getting an extra leg.”

MAX’s Wine Dive ($$)

-”Must try: chicken and waffles and honey butter Benedict with a side of Bloody Mary!”

-”Walked in on Sunday at noon and didn't have a reservation but they sat us at the bar where they had a full menu. The food was excellent! I had the  fried steak and eggs, and a couple mimosas.  I want to go back and try the fried chicken, which came highly recommended!”

-”Last 2 times I've gone, I got the fried chicken (gluten free).  So much food and fantastic taste.  Love the honey sauce to dip it in.   My option last Friday for a veggie substitute was grilled asparagus.  Perfection in the flavor and cooking.”

-”Salvation to our evening!!! We ordered the Brie en Croute, pork stuffed peppers, and the famous fried chicken, and OMG!! Great food!”

-”I had the shrimp and grits and it was better than I imagined. Although I'd like to try something new next time (like the delicious looking pork chop my friend got), I will find it hard not to get the shrimp and grits again. It was THAT good. Thumbs up!”

-”The chicken and waffles are to die for! Fast and friendly service, don't even get me started on how delicious the Jalapeño gravy is! :-)”

-”We've been to Odd Duck for both dinner and lunch service multiple times, so we knew it was already good, but brunch showed that this place can do it all.  Service was on the spot, not too needy, but not too standoffish.”

-”Treat yourselves to pig faced pretzels, smoked pork belly, fresh pasta in addition to excellent cocktails and beers on tap.”

-”The food was excellent.  We ordered: pretzel pg face carnitas, tempura fried sweet potato, deep sea red shrimp, pastrami pork belly, wagyu short rib and mushroom pasta.  It was really hard to pick a favorite because everything was delicious, but I couldn't get enough of the short rib and mushroom pasta.”

-”Pork Belly - one of the best I've ever had.  Flavorful, tender and not too fatty.  The chard broccoli on the side was delicious too. “

Ramen Tatsu-Ya ($$)

-”I rotate through the tonkotsu original, Mi so hot, and the tsukemen ramen. This place is definitely worth the wait in line. This place has the best ramen that I've had in Texas. I always recommend this place to any of my friends visiting Austin.”

-”Delicious. My favorite ramen place in Austin, beating Michi or Jinya.”

-”My favorite is Mi So Hot. I don't believe that it is too spicy. It just has a slight kick, which helps the ramen feel more fresh and not so heavy in singular taste. I also like their dipping ramen. But first timers may be more confused with how to eat the dipping ramen and would definitely suggest the Mi So Not or Hot on their first visit here.”

-”Tatsu-ya by far has the best vegetarian ramen I can find anywhere. I like it as is and feel no need to add any bombs or extras. It's full of delicious veggies, the broth is flavorful and not too salty, and the noodles always have a good consistency.”

-My favorite is the dipping ramen aka the Tsukemen. I really like thick ramen noodles and this is the only one that has that, because all the other ramens have the thinner version which I don't really like much. That's just personal opinion though! I've gotten the Mi-So-Not before and really enjoyed that. If you get the Tsukemen don't forget to put the lime all over the noodles when there's half left over! It changes the taste of the broth and ramen combo! The Katsu Sliders are also raved about a lot. It's really good!

-”Sushi was outstanding! Had yellowfin tuna and it was cheap and as good as I've had anywhere. Had the bluefin tuna and it was equally outstanding. Yellowtail was as good as I've had.”

-”Kome is one of my favorite spots in Austin. Everytime my boyfriend and I visit we make sure we come here. The food is great and reasonably priced for the quality. The fish & chips appetizer is pretty large for only $7! The wait is usually pretty long. Kome has gotten very popular since we've first discovered this gem.”

-”Komé does not take reservation unless you have a party of minimum six people.”

Sa-Ten ($)

-”Best kale salad I've ever had was from sa-ten. GET IT. Even if you hate kale. I hate kale. Well, I don't *hate* it, but I don't eat it unless it's from here. Their dressing masks the bitterness really well, and I also love sour/tangy dressings on salads so their kale salad suits my tastes really well.”

-”Sa-Ten is a little out of the way if you're coming from the downtown/UT area, but it's a nice place to retreat to on a nice day.”

-”The place was a bit hard to find but overall we were pleasantly surprised. Seating was comfortable, the place was modern and clean and we particularly loved the old skool TV/aquarium. We both had the chicken katsu plate with a side of macaroni salad and curry, for $10 it was well worth it.”

-”Berry hibiscus iced tea tasted really good. It is sweet but not overwhelming. You can also ask for a sample before you get it, to see if you'll like it.”

Michi Ramen ($$)

-”Michi Ramen is the perfect place to get that fix for noodles in a flavorful stock and eat your veggies too. Don't forget to add one or two ajitama eggs to top it off. No gooey runny egg here, just beautiful and tasty. As a vegetarian, I like that they offer two types of veggie broth; shoyu and miso shiitake every day.”

-”Get the Okonomiyaki fries”

-”Michi ramen! A legit competitor of ramen to that of Tatsuya and various other noodle places for your ramen needs!”

-”Yes, Tatsuya has that yummy egg and a really good broth but their portions are tiny and you barely get any meat! I love that the portions at Michi are filling and you get a lot more variety in your ramen.”

Uchi ($$$)

-”The Uni at Uchi was the best I have had thus far!  Uchi was the only place that served it properly and gave you the expected portion.  My favorite however was the Unagi.  I can now say I am an Unagi LOVER!!!”

-”My sake was delicious. The rolls we ordered were delicious. The uni I ordered was, obviously, delicious. And it's such a gorgeous, stand out restaurant. Such great service. Just a stand-out place. Deserving of its stellar reputation.”

-”Machi Cure: One of my favorite dishes of all time. If you don't like this dish, I seriously question your taste. One of the many dishes that showcases yellowtail, with a mix of sweetness and acidity.”

-”Their food is not inexpensive by any measure but what they're doing is really on another level from anything else I've experienced in Austin.”

-”Our table made a night of it and had plenty of rolls, edamame, cuts of fish and other goodies. Grab the sake when it's on happy hours! It's delicious. And the grilled edamame is excellent.
Ask your server for advice.”

-My favorite dish hands down is the machi cure. I don't like raw fish at all, but UCHI CHANGED HOW I TASTED RAW FISH. Seriously. This and Uchiko are the only places that will make me interested in eating sashimi without making my stomach queasy. I also recommend the hot rock where you can cook your wagyu beef on a stone, the Age Dofu, and the shishito peppers as your appetizer. The shishito might sound like it's super spicy but it really isn't! It's got a great spice to it.

Uchiko ($$$)

-GET. THE. FRIED. MILK. DESSERT.

-”Love this place. Specials and happy hour are always good, regular menu is phenomenal. I think they even added the jasmine cream to the regular menu? (Orrr was that Uchi proper?)”

-”Oh my goodness words cannot express how much I enjoyed my visit here! We tried a bunch of dishes but all I can say is you HAVE to try the gyutoro, masu, and fried milk. The rest is up to you but those 3 are just so freaking goooood. I can be back just to eat those 3 lol.”

-”I love dessert in general and that fried milk was just  right in the feels. I know it sounds funky and weird but REALLY REALLY FORREAL YOU WILL THANK ME LATER.”

-”Uchi is ALWAYS a good idea in my book.  Uchiko does not stray for from the vibe and taste of Uchi.”

-”It was hard to choose a favorite, but the avocado nigiri won! With the jasmine cream dessert a close second (not only was the dessert outstanding, but it was presented in this glass dish that looked like a smaller version of the Beauty and the Beast "Rose Case").”

-”Uchiko did not disappoint.  I was happy to see that the quality has held up over time and continues to deliver.  If you arrive before your reservation, you're able to order drinks at the bar, and they seamlessly transfer that tab to your table.  Staff was very attentive and provided quality service. “

Curra’s Grill ($$)

-”First off, the hyped up Avocado Margarita is exactly how it's described by others - Unique, creamy, and delicious. It has the consistency of a thick creamy smoothie and the color of light guac.”

-”Their queso is SO GOOD. We split the migas breakfast and we were glad we did. The portion was perfect for two.”

-”WHAT WAS GOOD was their nachos. I'm not sure if this is how Texas makes their nachos but it was DAMN GOOD. A tortilla chip topped with a spread of bean paste, chicken, beef and cheese. Dip that into guacamole and sour cream. You can thank me later.”

-”Delicious, large margarita and not weak. Big portions of food for good price.”

-”Went to Curra's as part of our quest to visit the "essential" Austin restaurants. The chips and salsa (smoky and slightly spicy) were great, and we added a salsa sampler for a few extra bucks. The avocado margaritas were delicious and creamy. We ordered the carnitas and the veggie fajitas - both were fantastic. The veggie fajitas were enough for a full meal of leftovers.”

Salty Sow ($$)

-”I recommend a reservation, but we got lucky (a 2nd time) and snagged a table on the veranda leading out to the patio. Such a great atmosphere!”

-”Great happy hour with $6 signature sips, $5 glasses of wine, $4 beers, and $5 shareable plates. Great seasonal cocktails (the Blood and Sand is like quicksand, rapidly leaving my glass!). They offer new "mini cocktails" if you just want to try something and don't want the whole glass. Truffled deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts are some all time fav dishes.”

-”For appetizers we got truffled deviled eggs and duck fat fries, both were DELICIOUS. Fries were crispy and had great flavor, and the texture and taste of the eggs was phenomenal.”

-”I personally ordered the duck fat fries and they are descended from heaven. The eggs are poached to a certain temperature and time frame to the point it is so creamy when you dip your fries in them. The duck fat had this unique salty taste that is simply divine. Definitely a thing everyone should try for the first time at this place.”

-”We tried the eggplant fries, duck fat fries, and the fried chicken with a biscuit. All were super delicious. And the chicken is served with this sweet sauce that surprisingly pair very well.”

-”It's a popular spot on a Friday night so make sure to expect a wait, and enjoy one of their specialty cocktails. I started with their Blanche which is a blood orange Margarita”

-”For those wondering you're looking at a 1hr 15m wait on a Saturday night @ 7:30p for reference.”

-”I like that Justine's is unlike any other dining experience I have had in Austin.  It has a great lived in artsy romantic feel.  Walking into Justine's is like what I would imagine eating in the French Quarter of New Orleans must be like.”

-”I will say this. Justine's knows how to prepare their protein. He loved his steak. I had a taste of it and oh my...it was cooked PERFECTLY. So juicy. So tender. Who needs sauce with this? They prepared my redfish PERFECTLY to a T also. The grilled carrots were outstanding.”

-”The sauce for the Boeuf au Vin was robust and flavorful. And the crème brûlée was the perfect balance of crunchy caramelized sugar and cool, creamy custard.”

la Barbecue ($$)

-”After being too tired and hungover, we were widely advised by some native Austinians(?) that La BBQ was just as good with half the wait. Ok. Sold.”

-”The BBQ here is the best I've had. I'm not a brisket person, but I would never come to la Barbecue and not get the brisket. Food really is art, and none more quality than here.”

-”You can order no more than a week in advance online and skip the line when picking up. Located in a food truck park, there's always a line.”

-”Honestly we were blown away by the quality of the meat. The beef rib was incredible, tender, smoky and just loaded with flavor. The brisket was from the lean end and yet was moist and tender as could be, perfectly smoked, exploding with flavor. Just awesome. The chorizo sausage was excellent, and the best we enjoyed on our trip to Texas. I felt guilty using any sauce at all because the meat in no way requires any, but discovered their sauce is terrific as well.”

-”We tried 17 different bbq places on our trip. La Barbecue tied with Franklin for the #1 spot. If you haven't been here, just go.”

Terry Black’s Barbecue ($$)

-”The meat was amazing!! Literally melted in my mouth. So good, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!“

-”Terry Black's is the TRUTH! I mean, people talk about The Salt Lick and Franklin's for days, but little do they know that this BBQ joint tops them all! I've been to all of them (plus Pecan Lodge in Dallas, Rudy's BBQ in Austin, etc.) and I promise you that this one is the best for their juicy/tasty meats.”

-”We enjoyed the corn, slaw, and vanilla pudding. And I love pickles jalapeños! There are also pickles and onions at the utensil station. And white bread was there too. BBQ sauce on the tables--I've only tried the original sauce and that was good too.”

-”I really liked the cafeteria style cause everything is heated and kept hot. The wait was really fast since people just grab and go. They even hooked it up with the free burnt tip!”

-”Get in line, grab a try and fill it with sides and meat. All their sides were delicious but the best was the Mac n Cheese! The best homemade Mac n Cheese I've ever had. I also tried the ribs and brisket both phenomenal but hands down the brisket wins. MELT IN YOUR MOUTH BRISKET. I didn't think meat could melt until now.”

General Tso’Boy ($$)

-”Anytime I'm in the area, I always have to stop by General Tso' Boy for their soft serve. It's a little expensive, but it has the best soft serve texture/taste in the Austin area in my opinion. Their soft serve flavors is on a rotating menu, so it changes a lot. Sadly, they only have one machine, meaning only one flavor every visit. I like to get condense milk or waffle crumbs on mine!”

-”This time around, I tried the General Tso's Chicken sandwich which comes with lettuce and mayo. Now this is what you call a solid sandwich! The bread was fresh and toasted just right. in fact, they get their bread from Easy Tiger, a German bakery/bar which is a cool place as well if you haven't checked it out.”

-”I'm a fan of the uniqueness. We got the Mapo Tofu Po Boy. After we asked for an extra side of sauce, it was a good combination. The batter they use is extra crispy and thick (I know this may be a bad reference but imagine Long John Silver way of frying).”

-”I ordered the general tso chicken sandwich while my friend ordered the honey walnut shrimp. What was super convenient about this place was that they already cut the sandwiches in half so it's easier to share with someone!”

North Italia ($$)

-”Everything I've tried has been so good. I literally can't go to the domain without dropping by. I normally don't buy sandwiches, but it looked so good in the pictures that I decided to try and OMG so good. I also love their chicken pesto. They put pine nuts and some citrus into it giving it a unique twist.”

-”I ordered the squid ink mafaldine. It's got a funny name and the noodles are black but it was so dang good. Honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've had in awhile.”

-”You get complimentary bread while you wait for your food or you can order truffle bread. I didn't try that but the table next to me got it and it looked and smelled amazing!”

-”The chicken Parmesan was so delicious! It had so much cheese and the pasta they used for the dish was fresh. The dish is big so you can share it or save it for another meal.”

-”North Italia is one of my favorite places in the Domain. The food is consistently good and the ambiance, while not spectacular, is still refined enough to be at home in the Domain. Everything is scratch-made, in house and never disappoints.”

Gourdough’s Public House ($$)

-”Gourdough's is freaking delicious. I got the fried chicken on top of a donut with honey butter sauce and almost died and went to heaven it was so good. The drink menu is imaginative and the beer list is extensive.”

-”Definitely try the sit down version of Gourdough's because the menu is slightly bigger! We had 2 savory entrees and 1 sweet accompanied by creamed corn (must) and fried okra (a tad bit greasier than what I'm used to)!”

-”The use fried doughnuts as buns on their dishes and of course have a crazy dessert menu featuring some diverse and tasty toppings.”

-”we settled on the El Camino Burger. Angus beef, Chipotle cheese blend, Chipotle Mayo, pickled jalapeños, bacon, cilantro, and sliced tomatoes........and let's not forget the star of the show.....a donut sliced in half for the buns!  WHUTTT!!!!!  This burger was SOOOOOO GOOD!!!”

-”So glad I caved in and gave Gourdough a try! Their donut burgers were just too good to pass. Wished we had the stomach to try their sweets especially given how amazing their savory donut burger buns were. Hopefully one day Gourdough would expand to Cali.”

Don Japanese Food Truck ($)

-LITERALLY THE CHEAPEST AND BEST FOOD EVER FROM A FOOD TRUCK. Only $5!! Highly recommend either the #1 Don or the #5 Veggie Heaven (not sure if they changed the number for that). Also if you see the red sauce when you get your food, drizzle it all over. The spicy oil is amazing with the Don sauce. The only downside is the wait. You either have to go super early or wait until the crowd dies down if it ever does.

-”Whenever you come to the food truck area. It's behind the university coop, just look for a black food truck with a long line! It's long for a reason because for $5 you can get a full meal with leftovers. The long forms before it opens so I suggest standing in line AT LEAST before 11:40 AM. I have been in line since 11:50 AM and was able to order at 12:20 PM for you to estimate. The owner(s) looks pretty young and very hip, so very approachable.”

-”Holy cow. I love this place!!! Suuuper long line which initially gave me the assumption that this place is overhyped. But wow, it was definitely worth the wait!!”

-”Their rice bowls are tasty and the protein options were plentiful. My favorite was the crispy karaage and I loved mixing my rice with the sweet and creamy sauces they serve on top. This is an affordable stop for Japanese fusion food and I can see why it's so hyped up around Austin.”

Sushi Junai 2 ($$) AYCE

-”I went with a group of about 9 of us and ordered just about everything. The gyoza was awesome. As was all of the sushi we tried. And so was the ramen and mochi. For $30 I'll definitely be returning next time I have a big group to go with.”

-”This place is definitely a lot bigger and fancier than the original sushi junai. Which means there really isn't much of a huge wait compared to the downtown location. I feel like the sushi quality is the same as the original location and our waiter was very nice and attentive to us.”

-”My favorite thing to eat from them is the sweet shrimp nigiri because it's so fresh and sweet! Scallop yum yum is good for those who are not used to the bare fish flavor because their sauce is very overwhelming, but delicious! A good roll to start would be the cucumber passion if you're a raw fish lover or the final destination if you like a typical saucy roll.”

-”So I'm not even joking when I say Sushi Junai is just the best blessing in existence. Let me tell you why, usually when you hear AYCE/buffet you usually know you'll sacrifice quality for quantity. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this, and I kid you not that is not even close to being true Sushi Junai! And hell, for the price you're paying it better not be!”

-”It's about $22 for lunch and $30 for dinner! I've been to both the downtown and Parmer locations, and service and quality are both the same but the Parmer location is just much larger (quicker seating). *nigri isn't included for lunch*”

Sway ($$)

-”For my entree I had the " son in law " dish and from what I heard it's a very popular dish with pork, rice and a boiled fried egg. Yummerz!!”

-”Their entrees are supposed to be shareable which seems to be an upcoming trend in some of Austin's elite restaurants but the concept is perfect for two people (hint: perfect for a date) as the experience is a bit more intimate in my opinion. All the food that we picked was delicious, savory and I wasn't disappointed by not one! Try their Chicken wings, Son-in law, Tiger Cry and/or their Beef Fried Rice!”

-”The blue crab fried rice was butter! It had cilantro mixed in and good chunks of REAL crab meat. I'm usually not a fan of tom kha gai soup. Typically people go overkill with coconut cream when making it, but not here.”

-”As for the actual food itself, we both really REALLY enjoyed our selections.  Honestly, the curry's immersion of flavors was surprisingly unique - the fragrant savoriness was unlike curries I've sampled in the past and believe you me, I've come across ALL kinds of curries in my lifetime.”

Roaring Fork ($$)

-”Roaring Fork gives a romantic and pretty upscale atmosphere. Lights were very dim, and the noise level was low. All in all, it is a perfect spot for a date.”

-”The tortilla soup includes rich tortilla broth, rotisserie chicken, chips of tortilla and avocado. For an appetizer, it was pretty filling shared amongst two people. Very tasty and satisfying!”

-”Their happy-hour menu is a deal. “

-”Solid steakhouse. The interior decor is nice and service is very attentive. The mussels appetizer is a large portion and quite tasty with the chorizo.”

-”The Mahi Mahi was delicious and was grilled perfectly as was the asparagus.  No complaints on the mash either.  Real potatoes, nicely done. “

-”The fries came out in a cauldron.  Cool.  They were not limp as I had expected.  The complimentary mini corn muffins are fabulous.  Little muffins with corn and raisins in them.  Delicious buttery goodness.  They are addicting so be warned.  Overall, I am a fan and will be back.”

Turf N Surf Po’ Boy ($$)

-”HUGE SERVINGS. That's the first thing that comes to mind. I should have shared a po' boy with my friend, but she wanted steak and I wanted seafood, so we just had a lot of delicious food left over. I got the grilled shrimp po' boy and man, it was packed with 6 GIANT jumbo shrimp that were cooked and seasoned perfectly.”

-”For the food, I got the buffalo chicken po boy and it was reallllly good. Large portion of chicken and everything seasoned well. My friend got the blackened catfish and liked hers as well.”

-”The portions are big, so I felt fine about the price. Anyway, good food came out fast. I will be eating there again!”

-”Super quick and friendly service. Amazing food. I had the fried crawfish po boy and my man had blackened mahi tacos.  Both were super fresh and tasty.”

-”Seafood gumbo was amazing! There was a good amount of shrimp and fish in the soup and just enough spice for a good kick. We also got the gulf oysters and oyster rockefeller. The gulf oysters were huge and fresh.”

Julie’s Handmade Noodles ($)

-This was my favorite place to get food whenever I was sick during college. The spicy beef stew noodle soup is to die for! It’s extremely flavorful and packs a punch. Definitely clears up my nose from the first spoonful! Whenever I was lazy to make food, I’d always get the dumplings. It comes with this vinegar/soy sauce sauce that is addicting! Oh and the Spiced Chicken Chow Mein is the best deal! You’ll have plenty of leftovers OR you can share with someone. I love it because of the thick noodles and I always make sure I get at least one scoop of the spicy chili peppers. Her noodles are all hand made. I heard they have a brick and mortar now? I’ll make sure to check it out.

-”The food truck also sells Chinese dumplings which are awesome and truly authentic !! Highly recommend place.”

-”If you want authentic Chinese food around campus, go to Julie's Handmade Noodles and get their beef noodle soup. The noodles are handmade and thick cut, and the cubes of beef melt away in your mouth immediately. The broth tastes amazing, on par with something my mom would make! They sell out of this dish often, so go early and hope for the best.”

-”I usually always get the chicken chow mein with the great spicy Sichuan spices, but today I tried the potstickers and was definitely satisfied!”

-”All in all, my favorite asian place to eat around campus because of the quick service and delicious food. Julie opened a brick and mortar restaurant in north Austin so you don't see her as much but the quality is still maintained! I always eat here 2/3 times a week.”

-”The show stopper here was definitely the soup!  The combination of broth, spices, beef and handmade noodles was mind blowing!  I loved that the noodles weren't perfectly identical to the next.  It was all spicy and delicious!  I would come here again and again to get this soup!  I am looking forward to exploring more her menu and my next visit!”

Barley Swine ($$$)

-”Everything we had was delicious (snacks, Brussels, carnitas, Mackerel, and birthday cake), the atmosphere was lovely, and the service (from the hostesses to the servers) was so friendly and great. I am so pleased. Our favorite was the Mackerel, it reminded my husband and I of our time this summer in Iceland.”

-”These are tasting portions, like tapas, and the flavors are awesome and INTENSE!”

-”We had the Chef's Tasting Menu with the wine/beer pairing.  This basically was 11 courses of appetizers, main and dessert along with a wine/beer pairing.  Everything was a party of flavors for my palette/mouth except maybe the seeded loaf that was part of the 7th course with the ribeye, oyster mushroom plate.”

-”Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in town. Love everything in this shop, the food, the decorations, the service and even the cute logo on the bathroom's door, lol. Have done three times of different chef tasting menus. Also tried most of the normal dinner menu and the Pig skin noodles with hot sauce is my fav.”

-”I came here for the chef's tasting menu. It was a crazy experience, one that I will never forget.”

-”Warning: If you're used to Outback Steakhouse or your grandmother's portions, you'll be sorely disappointed in the experience here at Barley Swine. It's a tasting menu for starts…”

If you have the money, this place is worth every penny, if you don't, go during happy hour and get more for your money than you deserve.”

-”The charcuterie is pretty good if you want to be adventurous.”

-”I had the Lion's Tail, Fig Manhattan and Rosemary's Gimlet. All spectacular and very well done. BEST pork chop I've ever eaten and the escargot and smoked salmon tartare appetizers were phenomenal.”

-”Their happy hour is amazing - all the drinks and food items I tried were super tasty. I didn't think I'd be a fan of the absinthe drinks but they make them so perfectly here that I actually enjoyed it a lot!”

-”However, the burger was one of the best I've ever had -- very juicy with some sort of fancy bacon. The fries it came with were perfectly crispy with homemade ketchup. It was big enough for two hungry college kids!”

-”I had ordered the Spicy Mike's Chicken Sandwich which is a thin breaded and fried chicken fillet on a sourdough roll and comes with a side of Parmesan fries.  We were all surprised at how large the fillet appeared as it hung off of the bun a good three inches on both sides.”

-”I've never had anything I didn't like but the best thing on the menu in my opinion is the fried cornbread.”

Patrizi’s ($$)

-”We went with his recommendations for the Pomodora, the carbonara and the italian sausage sandwich. . All of our food choices were delicious with the italian sausage sandwich being the stand out item....also the bacon...add bacon to whatever it is that you order!”

-”My favorite dish is the Great Leopold (spicy/garlic-y pesto topped with pumpkin seeds and lemon zest). Not only is the food incredible, but the staff is as well. They always take their time making recommendations to newbies while simultaneously walking around with seasonal samples.”

-”I love Patrizi's, especially their Carbonara Alexandra. We've tried the Pomodora and the Great Leopold, which were both good, but they're not the Carbonara! The coddled egg and the crispy bacon on top make the dish outstanding.”

-”If I could eat the Cacio E Pepe or Carbonara Alexandra and garlic bread every day without having to eventually invest in a girdle and muumuus, I would happily make the drive over here every day after work.”

-”First off, their options. Paleo/glutenfree veggie noodles- are you kidding?! I love you.”

-”This little permanent food truck is run by an Italian family who makes their own pasta. I love pasta so much and eat it all the time and this was some of the most memorable I've ever had. I ordered the pomodoro with a meatball on the side. My friend had the great leopold with a meatball. And we split the house salad and garlic bread. Way too much food but who cares, it was amazing.”

Halal Bros ($)

-”god BLESS Halal Bros !!! Their food is amazing; in my opinion it's better than the famous Halal Guys in NY. They also have a little food truck downtown which is a little cheaper but only takes cash.”

-”I've only tried famous Halal Guys in NY and Halal Corner in Austin as well as this place and this is almost if not just as good as Halal Guys in NY.”

-”The container in the pictures looked small and I thought it was small serving. But no, to my surprise, I was stuffed at lunch and still had leftovers.”

-”This place is amazing! I've been coming here for a couple of years and the quality has been the same. I would recommend against getting the wraps, because for a dollar more, you can get your dish over rice for basically double the amount of food.”

-”BIG portions. They give you at least 2 servings worth for your order of "___ over rice."”

-”The Rice Bowl is the staple. Popping hot every time. Every bite is equally flavorful, never a patch of hard rice as some places may have. The falafel are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, again hot. The Mint Lemonade is would be another recommendation. It's more sweet than sour, which is what I preferred.”

Clark’s Oyster Bar ($$$)

-”The crudo plate was amazing! Slices of hamachi, tuna kampachi and walu fish (if I recall correctly) in a beautiful lemon vinaigrette with capers and red onion.”

-”Bloody Mary's were very tasty, dozen oysters were great, have to mix up the regions for the best taste.  Ask your waiter.  Lobster Mac & Cheese is absolutely as mentioned elsewhere " to die for".”

-”wife loves the oyster selections.  And this place never disappoints when you order something other than oysters as well.”

-”Very good quality place. Met plenty of locals that go regularly there. If that isn't the best tell of a restaurant I don't know what is. Top notch.”

-”Love the snapper ceviche, cioppino, mussels, and shells and cheese with crab as a side. More surprisingly (since Clark's excels in seafood) - they may have one of the best burgers in town!”

-”I love their homemade horseradish.  While I tend to prefer horseradish with a little more zing, theirs was softer and more gentle on the palate and quite good.”

-”The crudo plate was really good. Really recommend that. The burger was half off for happy hour so we tried that also. It was really good. The shoestring fries were delicious. They were so thinly slice/cut.”

-”I've been here for breakfast and lunch and have always been very impressed with their menu. Recently I had the bahn mi tacos and the humus plate and they were both fantastic!”

-”The property is centered on a house-turned-cafe with a good menu in addition to their caffeinated and alcoholic beverages. Also, there's a smoothie shop connected to the front patio and a stage for music.”

-”I usually get the Military Pot (Budae Jjigae) whenever I come here. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the portion size is very big. You can definitely share with two or even three other people!”

-”The KFC, their special chicken dish, was very tasty but a large portion for the two of us. For an extra dollar, you can do a split batch of half original half sauced. -”The Monte Cristo was a much more savory than sweet. It was an extremely well balanced sandwich that is brought home with a cherry and fig jelly.”

-”I got the Lonestar BLT sandwich and it was to die for.  The portions are quite big for the price.”

-”It's hard to go wrong with a Monte Cristo, but these guys do it so well with their beer batter outside and the fig jam that's pairs so well with the ham and cheese marvel. Hey are you gonna eat or what is located near Zilker Park in a food truck park along with a few other food trucks (fried chicken, Thai food, cup cake) and plenty of outdoor picnic tables.”

Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ ($)

-”All of it was wonderful: the brisket perfectly cooked, moist, tender, smoky and packed with flavor. The sausage had great texture, and the jalapeño and the cheese inside both stood out more than the other jalapeño sausages we'd sampled from other establishments.”

-”Brisket- was really moist and flavorful. Super filling. The tortillas that they make are so amazing. It's so few and far between that you find good homemade ones.. these are to die for! Noms!”

-”I also would like to say that the $5 price tag per taco is a bit much. They are loaded though.. so after getting them wasn't too upset with it.”

-”The brisket we ordered came with the option for tortillas or bread. We chose the corn tortillas and made a brisket taco. The brisket was good but I have had better at other BBQ places.  Sorry Valentina's but I still love you!”

-”The food is the same, great! I am hooked on the carnitas tacos and smoked corn.”

Easy Tiger ($$)

-”There are 2 ways to enter. You can enter through the bake shop (boring) or you can enter through the beer garden, which is like a mini adventure. We crossed over some bridges and ended up in this legit place with a cool rock wall (I'm pretty sure it's not for climbing so don't do that) and a pond or something.”

-”Holy Mother of Meat. Easy Tiger is where your face should be if your mouth needs pastrami.
I tried this place out after wandering the streets of Austin in search of some good bread, and luckily this was the perfect place.”

-”Pretty good place to grab a drink, and chat with friends by the water on the back. You can play a game or two of ping pong there as well. Pretty good place to hangout, spend as much time as you would like. Didn't try the food but I have heard it is really good.”

-”Start with a pretzel and cheese- you won't be disappointed. I *almost always* order the turkey sandwich, but I've had all of the sausages, the potato salad and sauerkraut. All are amazing.”

-”If you're looking for the best fresh bread in Austin, search no more: it's at Easy Tiger. This is the closest thing to real French bread you will find in town, and the prices reflect the quality of the ingredients and a taste you will find nowhere else in Austin.”

Dawa Sushi ($)

-THEY HAVE SUSHI TACOS.

-”For $22 I got a eel roll, tempura shrimp Roll and four small spicy tuna tacos. I was only able to go through half and I packed the rest to go.”

-”This is definitely on my list of go to sushi places. I'd definitely support them opening their own restaurant”

-”Great sushi at a great price! Made to order so my edamame was warm & my roll tasted fresh. Great place to grab a quick dinner!”

-”I've had sushi in places far and wide, Hawaii to San Diego and New York, even Denver and Oklahoma City, this place is right up there with the big ones! They have these spicy tuna tacos that are killer, their rolls are priced so well, and exploding with flavor. These guys don't skimp on the fish either, just simply awesome sushi.”

-”Best customer service! Amazing quality of food with incredibly affordable prices! Extremely delicious and everything ordered was absolutely incredible!!! GREAT SPOT for a date night!!!”

-”Try their green tea smoothie with boba tea bubbles. They have the best iced coffee I've ever had.”

-”I selfishly don't want anyone to go here because it's so amazing, and I want all their food for myself. Best hidden gem for sushi in Austin, hands down.”

P. Terry’s Burger Stand ($)

-I seriously love P. Terry's. I ALWAYS make it a point to get them  when I go back to visit Austin. Like it's a must have for me. I crave this shit. It's probably the fries and their special sauce. One time I just bought 5 bags of fries and asked for all their sauce before driving home lol. For me, it's the Austin burger. Just like how Cali has their In N Out and New York has their Shack Shack. Austin has the P. Terry's. Too bad last time I went I could see they raised their prices a little bit but I mean it's still cheap compared to other burger places.

-”I liked that it has a homemade taste to its burgers. It's like my mom was in the kitchen making them”

-”This place makes a mean veggie burger.  On their website, they say that they make their veggie burgers by hand from scratch everyday. I believe it! They are flavorful, moist, and filling.”

-”We stopped here after ACL one night and the burgers were simple but good, to put it simply. There wasn't a lot of pomp and circumstance, just a fresh juicy burger that tasted just right. It had all the right burger fixins and it hit the spot. I could eat 5 of these in one sitting.”

-”Good ol' P Terry's. Can't go wrong with a double burger and fries. Wanna complete the meal? Get the shake as well. With cheap prices and good fast food, I really don't know what more I could ask for.”

-”Nothing can possibly go wrong with P.Terry's! No matter which location you go to, they serve you the best quality hamburger and fries whenever you want.”

-”tried many Burger places in Austin and this one is one of my favorites, if not the best. I really like their fries because they have too much oil on it like EVERY other Burger place in the US. Their will to have organic products is a good plan but I don't know how they do to have burgers so cheap and also good. I am truly impressed!”

-”Tiff's is a really easy gift for anyone's birthday or special occasion. You can order them the day of, even an hour before, and no one's gonna fault you for getting them! You can't say no to Tiff's!”

-”Their tiff-wich, if you've never had it, is the BEST ice cream sandwich I've ever had. Their cookies are already magic, and then they put ice cream between two WARM cookies. It's hot and cold and absolutely perfect.”

-”Something I learned about my stay in Austin (I was visiting from Los Angeles) is that when they use legit butter and legit milk, it makes legit good food. these were amazing cookies!”

Lick Honest Ice Creams ($)

-I LOVEEE their cilantro lime flavor. That is what I always get whenever I go. One time I couldn’t get enough of it that I bought a whole $6 pint of it. Let me tell you, I took forever to finish it because I wanted to savor it. They have really uncommon flavors, and I always try samples of them before ending up getting cilantro lime haha.

-”After sampling a spoonful of Texas Sheet Cake (which, with its chocolate and pecan notes, is itself a stroke of genius), I settled on the tart toasted coconut with lemon-lime curd.  Holy taste buds was that stuff good.”

-”The ambiance is adorable and inviting.  I would love to come back and try more flavors. Today I went with some everyday flavors, goat cheese thyme and dark chocolate olive oil and sea salt. Both did not disappoint!”

-”The flavors are so, so unique. I've been to "craft" ice cream places before but these flavors were on another level.  They all sounded good to me so I tried a bunch to help me decide.”

-”Must get: Brown Butter Brown Sugar (seasonal), Goat Cheese Lavender + Thyme”

-”Some of the flavors that I like were goat cheese, thyme & honey, roast beets, and orange chocolate. There were a lot more flavors on the menu so I hope to come back to try some more next time I'm in Austin. A must if you're in town.”

Amy’s Ice Creams ($)

-They have the best mexican vanilla flavor ever! I always get that no matter what. Also if you get the bowl, you can ask to have a cone on top!

-”Great location and and menu! The line was long but surprisingly moved fast! There was a musician playing out front. The chocolate ice cream is a must get. Staff was nice.”

-”Creamy, soft, yet still thick, it's what you would want your ice cream to be. Many flavors to choose, even more toppings, and a pre-made menu in case you can't figure it out yourself.”

-”They have unique flavors such as red velvet, sweet cream, Mexican vanilla, strawberry pop-tart and peach cobbler when I went. I got the sweet cream and red velvet; the red velvet was really good! I like that you can get two different flavors even in a tiny size cup.”

-”Great ice cream place on congress street. Every time I walked by this place it had a line to it so knew it had to be good. The ice cream was delicious and fast friendly service.”

-”Omg, the Mexican vanilla is amaze balls!! Add cookie dough and it is off the chain! If I lived in Austin, I would frequent Amy's once a week.”

Dolce Neve ($)

-”One of the unique things I noticed about Texas is how they like to put cheese in their ice cream. And I'm not mad about it. It works and California needs to step up their game.”

-”I got the Fromage Blanc and Apricot Jam for my ice cream flavor and a Crema Dolce Neve sandwich I think. Both were amazing. The savory cheese and sweetness of the ice cream complemented each other perfectly.”

-”Everything is good though so if you think something is interesting, definitely sample it! Oh, and get the waffle cone (it's handmade in house and amazing)”

-”The shop is cute, limited parking in the back. Overall, the gelato was very sweet and the unique flavors were a nice addition.”

-”I love the earl grey gelato and the many options for vegan, GF. The staff is friendly and encouraged tastings. It is difficult to choose from the unique flavors. I love to support independent companies and the creativity of the product line.”

Teo ($)

-”This place is great! Their espresso is outstanding - it reminds me of my trip to Italy where you would get a perfect pull of delicious brew each time. I'd honestly go there just for their espresso drinks.”

-”Must get: Espresso, Peanut Butter, Hazelnut”

-”Both of my daughters went with the Strawberry, while I went with the Salted Caramel and Cookies And Cream.  My choices were very good and "reeked" of FRESHNESS!  I'm not a fan of fruit in ice cream or gelato, but the Strawberry version was pretty good, as well.”

-”GENEROUS amount! Get the Medium sized cup. It's like a 40 cent difference and you get so much more!”

-”Italian Peanut Butter (previously named Nuts - won HEB flavor award)”

-”Of all the trendy ice cream/gelato places in Austin this place is a winner. The decor and atmosphere  are nice, but don't expect anything sophisticated or hip. They keep it simple and the product speak for itself. Loved the salted caramel, pistachio and strawberry.”

Gourdough’s ($)

-”I don't even know if I can call these donuts, as they are more like large cakes. You need a fork and knife to take down these monstrosities, as they come in large boxes meant for hamburgers. I got the banana pudding donut with vanilla wafers and it was life changing. It was the best banana pudding I have ever tasted and then getting tastes of mixed hot fried dough with it was just unfair.”

-”Do not leave Austin without coming here! It's a nondescript stationary food truck/trailer, you could easily miss it if there weren't a line outside and you weren't looking for it.”

-”I ended up ordering the Black Out after much deliberation. Big fat donut with chocolate icing, huge brownie pieces and chocolate chips. It was warm, tasty and melt in your mouth good.”

-”i didn't have very high expectations for this spot i thought it might just be hyped but man, the donuts were delicious - perfect texture - soft, doughy and melts-in-your-mouth the minute you bite down through the crispy, lightly fried crust ermegawd”

-”This place is a must see for anyone visiting ATX. The atmosphere is very fun and inviting. My husband and I both ordered from the menu. It was hard deciding what to have. I had the Nutty Valentine. Delicious. Parking is free and prices are reasonable. You won't be disappointed.”

Hay Elotes ($)

-”Love it.. Nothing like it in DFW... Austin has the best mangonada I've ever had hands down! Will definitely return next time I'm in town.”

-”Came here for some authentic Mexican sweets and was overwhelmed with many options. I ultimately decided on the Fresas Con Crema which are strawberries in a sweet cream and it came with Granola which was complimentary. Overall it tasted pretty good, it was a huge portion. I was satisfied with the speed and the customer service, i'd come back again!”

-”Mango Hill was refreshing, especially on a hot day. The strawberries were so fresh and the chili sauce on top was such a perfect touch. I was super impressed. We struggled to finish it, so I recommend sharing with a friend (unless you're up for the challenge).”

-”This place is a hidden gem! You could almost miss it because it's kind of just like a very small hole in the wall, but it's definitely worth visiting. They have all kinds of Mexican desserts that you can't find anywhere else.”

Casey’s New Orleans Snowballs ($)

-Cheap and refreshing! But with long, longgg lines. An extra small for $2.50 doesn't sound like enough but this snowcone goes a long way. With so many flavors to choose from I'll be coming back a lot more!”

-”Currently my flavors are half and half of custard and strawberry, topped with cream. Ohmagerd...the custard. Y'all. The custard is amazing. And you definitely can't go wrong with the blue coconut, wedding cake, cream soda and cotton candy.”

-”They give really generous portions and the flavor a look like they mixed and concocted it themselves. The staff is really friendly and patient. My only issue is--- they are seasonal!! And closing this year on October 2nd... Opening again in March *insert sad face*”

-”We also tried their Salted Caramel macaron and it was FANTASTIC! So very delicious!”

-”Most people are hesitant to try a chocolate snow cone, but get the Boston Creme Pie here and change your mind. The extra Hershey's syrup on top makes it even better.”

Churro Co ($)

-”There was about 8(?) choices of churros, ranging from the basic traditional churro to some pretty awesome ones! I personally got the Texas inspired one: basically two cinnamon-sugar churros with apple pie filling and salted caramel with whipped cream!”

-”These are the most creative and well thought out churros I have ever seen - they toss the churros in different flavored sugars to complement the toppings: Cardamom Sugar + Apple Pie Topping, Graham Cracker Sugar + S'mores Topping, Popcorn Sugar + Caramel Topping, etc.”

-”Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside - Churros Co.'s churros are amazing! Love their in-house strawberry sauce!”

-”Churros! These delicious Mexican fried dough sticks are the new hotness in the dessert scene, and no churro is more on-fleek than Churro Co.'s churros.  You don't just want these churros in your life, you NEED these churros in your life!”

-”I ordered a frozen banana with chocolate and graham crackers. So simple, yet so good! The Bananarchy table was a hit that night and was swamped.”

-”Wowza. I can't believe I went so long without this place in my life! Frozen bananas rolled in and topped with whatever your heart desires- chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, toffee, peanut butter...so delicious.”

-”I had the Jo banana, which is a frozen banana with chocolate and coffee beans. IT WAS SO SO DELICIOUS.”

-”had a vegan chocolate banana with oreos.. the staff was really sweet. was a great banana experience 🙂 looking forward to coming back to try the salted caramel vegan banana”

-”So good - choose dip and toppings of your
choice best banana ever ... Never thought a banana could taste sooo good”

-”I tried all three dipping options and truly believe it is impossible to go wrong with any of them. No matter what you choose, the outer layer of the banana will be thick and filled with flavors. I went on a day when all half bananas were $1 with an unlimited amount of toppings. I found that 2 toppings were sufficient and satisfied my sweet tooth. The temperature of the frozen banana was a nice contrast to the Texas heat. I will return here again!!”

-”Ok I fell in love with their strawberry cream ice after my friend introduced me to it. I have had their taro ice and their traditional ice but was never wowed until now.”

-”There is no wrong combination 😀  Fruit, boba, pudding, jellies, ice cream....I just want to have it all!!! I recently had the passion fruit ice with mango ice cream drizzled with passionfruit syrup...YAS! The portions are huge, so even a small can be split between 2 people.”

Tea Haus ($)

-In my opinion, this is the best boba milk tea in Austin. They soak their tapioca balls in honey! Man, I can go for some right now.

-”We came here for the musubi but they did not sell it anymore. So we ordered the strawberry brick toast and fried chicken. Both are soooo good. The brick toast is rather different from regular asian brick toast where it is served very very thick. This brick toast is only about 1 inch thick. They toasted the bread and cut it to 9 pieces half way, with condensed milk and fresh strawberries on top.”

-”My go to drink here is the sea salt crema coffee, but I've also tried the sea salt Thai tea and I think the lychee black tea.”

-”My favorite is Sea Salt Cream Coffee with boba. All the other drinks are good too. Mint mojito iced tea is great as well! I'm pretty sure their boba has honey added to it.”

-”I ordered a Chai Tea Latte, the basil fried chicken, and the strawberry brick toast and loved everything I ordered. I was most impressed with their basil fried chicken -- I didn't know they served savory snack foods here but it was so good.”

-”We have had our fair share of gourmet type donuts and these donuts blew us away. They come out hot and fresh every time. We tried the cinnamon sugar per a recommendation and paired it with the white chocolate sauce. It made for an amazing sweet and smooth donut.”

SPUN Ice Cream ($$)

-”This ice cream is extremely creamy and delicious. I've never had liquid nitrogen ice cream until eating here, and it was totally bomb.”

-”I'm so happy we were able to come, AND they had my favorite flavor -- Butter Pecan. It had a dusting of brown butter powder, which was so sweet. I've never seen/tasted anything like it. And with an overload of pecans, I was very pleased.”

-”They use all natural cream (no GMO, no gluten, all organic cows!) and mix the base ice cream in about 6-8 flavors. When you order, you tell them which size you want, 1 ball, 2 balls, or 3 balls. Beware, this ice cream is very dense, unlike other ice cream that contains a lot of air and gives it bulk. a two scoop SPUN cream serving is very rich and what I would compare to 3 scoops at Amy's.”

-”I ordered the Salted Caramel with the magic butterdust, it was creamy and delicious despite looking so plain.  I also got to try the more colorful and equally delicious birthday cake, another home run.”

Sweet Ritual ($) [Vegan]

-”I heard the Unicorn Poop flavor is popular here! Definitely will try that out during my next visit.”

-”SO good! Pro: It's so creamy that there is no distinction between dairy based ice cream and this really. Your taste buds won't even notice. Sign up with your phone number when you pay and get coupons periodically via text - umm worth it! They have GF cones and OMG they are tasty!”

-”Never have I ever been to nor knew one to exist - an all vegan ice cream shop! If you're visiting Austin and on a vegan food mission, I would say make sure to stop in here, even if may be a little out of the way, it's worth the trip - from anywhere, really!”

-”My rocky road was great -- the sunbutter chocolate chip was delicious. Honestly, I couldn't finish it. Order one scoop!”

-”They have interesting flavors too! Try the durian if you're feeling adventurous or the Unicorn flavor too!”

-”A few of my favorite flavors that I stalk their Instagram account announcements for: death metal by chocolate, sunbutter chocolate chip, peanut butter cup, mint chip and salted caramel. Oh, get some unicorn poop on top any of these flavors for an added rush of sugary yumminess!”

Sprinkles ($$)

-”Probably the best cupcakes I've ever had. So far we have tried four flavors. My favorite so far is the strawberry, the cake is moist and fluffy, the flavor is solid and I ate it before I could take a pic. I'm sorry! Or am I??”

-”Why would someone buy a $4 cupcake? Well, when they're this good, there's no hesitation. We tried three of their flavors, banana, strawberry and cinnamon sugar. They were all very good, and our favorite was the banana.”

-”If you're into Red Velvet, Sprinkles offers that particular flavor as either vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, or normal.”

-GET THE RED VELVET or the CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOW cupcake. My favorite. They also have a cupcake ATM outside if you don’t want to wait in in line.

Infinite Monkey Theorem ($$)

-THEY HAVE WINE SLUSHIES!

-”Cool spot, I'd been wanting to go forever and finally made it in for one of their delicious wine slushy, it did not disappoint! Great service, yummy drinks, sweet chill vibe.”

-”The wine slushy was super yum and our other wines were nice too--he had a red and I had rose. The ladies working were very friendly. We loved that we could bring in food.”

-”I got a wine slushie (the type seems to vary). It was delicious - not too sweet and not too bitter. It really packed a punch, though. Those can be dangerous!”

-”The environment is so interesting, something new to look at it everywhere you turn! I love that you can purchase the wine to take home with you, the wines in general AND canned wines! If you're wanting to try a few wines, they have wine flights served on a adorable wooden palette.”

Tous Les Jours ($)

-”Had the Kimchi Croquette and a blueberry pastry.  Both were out of this world.  Iced coffee was on point.  Manager was super concerned with providing a good experience. “

-”This place is like heaven!! Who doesn't like a pastry place that actually has samples for you to try?!  Besides their bread pastries, they also sell very moist delicious cakes and other goods!  My boyfriend ordered my birthday cake from here and it came nice packaged with a useful plastic cutting knife. “

-”But the baked goods -- ugh. They are to die for. Chocolate bread, sesame balls, chocolate eclairs, croissants, milk bread.... they're all delicious.”

-”I didn't know what I had been missing out on, this place is awesome! They have samples, which is genius because I don't think I saw anyone that tried them leave the store empty handed.”

-My favorite are the strawberry milk breads, the cheesecake breads, and the half chocolate croissants. I love how they have samples. I can’t but go around eating and wanting everything.

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters ($$)

-”Came again to try some carrot cake and WOW AMAZING.
Best carrot cake I have ever had. I don't even particularly like carrots, but you can barely even taste the carrot-ness! There are small shavings of it in the cake but it's so spongy and yummy itself, it's a must-try.”

-”Mozart's is honestly 5 stars for ambiance and vibe. SO CUTE. The view of the river is spectaculaaar. After seeing pictures of it lit up during Christmas time, it really makes me want to come back to Austin in the winter (and yes, if you've been reading my reviews from my Austin trip - I fell in the love with the city. Take me back already)”

-”Iced Mocha is my favorite xdrink, and the view is very awesome.”

-”This place for me feels most alive during the holidays.  The Christmas lights that cover the outside seating area are magical and really gives you the holiday vibes.  Even more so if the weather cooperates and the chilly weather is present.  It will have you craving for some hot chocolate, which is what really brought us here.”

-”I had the mozart's mocha special which tasted so good. I will definitely be back again.”

-”Seriously, the happy hour prices are insane- $6 wines and cheeseboards and hummus?! Oh my!”

-”The service is always top notch and this place has a great vibe. They indoor and outdoor (with heaters) seating. It's a nice place to go hangout and have a cocktail or even just to go read. They also have food such as salads, sandwiches and desserts! The macarons are a must get! Try the tiramisu one!”

-”Now that I've visited twice - once for the gelato, and once for a latte, I have to say I genuinely enjoy this place. The staff is friendly and delivered my coffee right to where I was seated, and there is a cute space outside with extra seating if it gets too cramped inside since it is a smaller establishment.”

-”When I recently went, there was a flavor of gelato that was either---Merlot, or Sangria---and it was perfect. Paired it with a scoop of coconut and it was like a damn wine smoothie. *heaven*”

-”Quaint little coffee shop with great cappuccinos and gelato! Beer and wine also available.”

-”Great stop in for good hot coffee!  We didn't explore much else but we're ready for a break from exploring and needing a good pick-me-up!  This definitely met that next with a solid Americano.”

-”The s'mores were good- however, nothing too special, just the average roast it yourself by the fire with chocolate and graham crackers. Because it was generic, the price could be a bit lower for this treat on the menu (we paid $7- the price of many entrees around Austin). I assume you are paying for the experience. My cravings were, on the other hand, satisfied.”

-”LOVE this spot whenever I'm in Austin! Great people, great coffee, great atmosphere. Internet is fast and the seating is varied - hightop tables, regular tables, and even a window area with cushions and pillows.”

-”I don't want to review the doughnuts individual because your taste may be different than mine, but you really can't wrong. And if you don't like what you picked, for me it was the Mexican Hot Chocolate and the Grape Ape, you can pick of the toppings because the cake itself is still delicious.”

-”These are not your usual, standard donuts. They teem with creativity in concept, design, and flavors. Try one (or two) if you are on E. 6th street. You'll be sure to get one at any time because the shop is open 24/7.”

-”Hyped. Open 24/7. Cash only. Inventive, crazy flavors. Downtown. Cool space. Pink box for you to take to go and show off your doughnuts.”

-”If you didn't already know, this place mixes alcohol into their ice creams. I had a boozy tiramisu! Amazing!! My boyfriend ordered the ice cold brew coffee and said it was the best he ever had!”

-”Prohibition Creamery is the best of both worlds in my opinion .... booze AND ice cream! Bam! The place is located on the eastside and definitely has a cool vibe going on.”

-”I got the boozy tiramisu, cookie dough and PBJ ice cream. I also sampled the dark chocolate and spicy chocolate ice cream. All delicious! Also their milk shake options look good AF! I'll have to get one next time.”

-”The perfect balance of sweet, doughy yet light dough, and best of all it was Hot! It was definitely a party in our mouth combined with sugar rush.”

-”Whenever I visit ATX, I *HAVE* to make the pilgrimage to get Round Rock Donuts!! They are my favorite donuts in the state, and they make their doughy goodness fresh every day. Their regular glazed donuts are yeast based and cost $7 per dozen. They are not overly sweet, and they taste even better the next day and a run in the microwave.”

-”Different variety of toppings for your ice cream, the Oreo taco was amazing they offered to more toppings on your taco. But I didn't because it was my first time. By the time I  finished with my taco I wished I had agreed to add more toppings. Lol. But this dessert truck is amazing and totally worth it.”

-”We asked them to make whatever they'd want and just go crazy with it, and ended up with a massive treat about the size of my head. Homemade taco shell made of girl scout cookie thin mints, stuffed with mint ice cream that was mixed with green sprinkles and thin mint chunks, and all of it topped off with a chocolate crust. It was incredibly good, and the guys running the truck were awesome. Go check it out!”

“A beautiful park to spend a nice day. Of course we all know we're here just for the Peacocks! The location is small but quaint and the peacocks just roam freely at their own leisure so feel free to get as close to them as you wish but also at your own discretion.”
