They’re the best Anime that 2013 has to offer! We counts down the best anime to come out this year, including the likes of Tayu Tayu, Accel World EX, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun: Tonari no Gokudou-kun, and more!
10: Tayu Tayu
MAL Score: 7.03
Tayu Tayu is an anime adaptation of the adult manga of the same name by Yamatogawa.
Since his parents moved abroad for business, Reiji was forced to live at his old place in the country side. When he decided to enjoy an open air bath, two female childhood friends notice him. That’s where the story begins…
(Source: BakaBT, edited)
So yeah. The next time you hear someone in 4chan bragging about how they’ll never “support the industry,” just tell ’em that their favorite animu would be done by someone on the level of Queen Bee.
Aside from that; allow me to put “heart-warming” and “sex romp” in the same sentence. Tayu Tayu is a nice heart-warming sex romp about a guy who ends up going back to the countryside, reignites his childhood friendship with two girls, and ends up becoming a human dildo for said two girls and three others.
I’m finding it hard to believe the argument within this series about “hot young men” not being found in the countryside. In the US; you’d find all types of people (along with some “bad-old days” racists and “responsible gun owners”) in the countryside. I know it’s fantasy, but what about the guys you’d see working in rice fields?
genre:3P, Femdom, Harem, Vanilla, Virgin/s
story is about the MC, tokiwa reiji returning to his hometown to find that he is the only male in that town for short the town is full of hot virgins that is wants to experience pleasure
queen bee’s art always use the original art from their adaptations so if you liked the mangas art then youll like this too if you havent read the manga you can just consult the cover pic. the animation is pretty close to flash animation. sound nothing to arrgue about that its just that all of the girls speak different from the normal accent you wont notice it if you dont understand japanese you just need to read the subs anyway. video and audio may differ depending on where youre watching
overall i really enjoyed this one great H for vanilla lovers
9: Accel World EX
Japanese: アクセル ワールド EX
MAL Score: 7.12
OVA bundled with the Accel World simulation and action games. The Blu-ray OVA discs came with the PS3 limited edition versions and the DVD with the PSP limited edition versions.
The project was split into two PSP and PS3 titles, and one episode was released with each game:
#EX01: Reverberation;Zankyou (bundled with Stage:01 Ginyoku no Kakusei)
#EX02: Vacation;Onsen (bundled with Stage:02 Kasoku no Chouten)
Accel World EX (OVA) is actually based on a project split into two non linear sections that were released based off the video game for the PS3 platform. Those lucky enough who purchased the game will find these gratifying gifts from the producers that comes in the form of Blu-ray DVDs for fans of the original series/light novels. It is also based on its prequel predecessor Accel World. As such, expect many of the same themes, characters, setting, and backgrounds similar.
Because it is non linear, the OVA are standalone episodes that has little to no connection to one of of the other or vice-versa. It is divided into two separate states. The first stage known as Reverberation;Zankyou still takes place in a similar setting but with a newer concept shown AFTER the original anime series. What this means is that it can be a little spoilerish but more importantly, viewers should familiarize themselves with the original series. The episode does not reintroduce all the concepts from its prequel nor are there actual backgrounds of the story from it. It is a stand alone episode and gives more of a fillerish vibe.
The episode itself contains action, drama, and very small inklings of romance as compared to its prequel. In fact, I found some of the misunderstandings between the duo of Kuroyukihime and Haruyuki to be forced and weak. It is not well executed from my point of view especially with their relationship. Despite this though, the two still make a good team especially with their skills and the new concepts applied. With that concept spawns action which was surprisingly well presented. It does lack that feeling of seriousness especially when compared to the latter half of the prequel but it earn its entertainment points.
The designs of the avatars remains generally the same but with the newer concepts applied that brings forth some amusing moments. This is especially true for Kuroyukihime avatar that makes her character already stand out more than she should be. As for the second episode, it follows the typical trend with most OVA standpoints in today’s anime industry. That spells out a simple word: fan service. Of course, in series like this, Reki and his works makes no escape towards this trope. With many of the baring skin and lustful embrace postures, the second half of Accel World EX is a gratuitous presentation. A viewer shouldn’t be surprised though because as it has become a popular trend today.
Both the artwork and soundtrack remains generally the same with Hima doing the original designs and music composed by Kotoko. It focuses on the electronic rhythms and stereo-like vibrations. Along with the OP/ED songs, it brings out the cyber word that is Accel World once again.
All in all, these two OVA episodes are a gift for the fans – either fans of the anime, light novels, or the video games. It’s a bit of a shame that this time around, story isn’t part of the formula for these two episodes. Instead, it is substituted with generics and luring visuals. Still though, it could also be a ride of entertainment if you’re in for it. It’s hard to say if this is a reminder that the series is still popular in Japan but given the sales, a season 2 is possible on the horizon. However, Accel World EX is up for grabs if you’re in for some fun.
Consistent with the main series. Fairly good overall detail and colorization ruined by the blob of the South Park main character. A bit of concentrated fan service in particular scenes in the second episode.
Identical to the main series. This uses the second OP in the main series as well as the same BGM and VAs. Nothing particulary special here.
Pretty much explained the plot in the intro. Nothing is particularly drastic, though I found the first episode a bit far-fetched (sort of borrows the idea from SAO that being an ace in one game makes you really really good in another similar game, though I don’t think good enough to beat a master at the other game). The second episode is more character-driven with some more character background and a lot of Fuuko Kurasaki.
There isn’t any really huge development here. You find a bit of additional detail on fat blob’s past but that’s about it.
This was a fair watch but nothing spectacular. The first episode is more action based whereas the second is a relaxing break. For Accel World fans.
they don’t continue the story but they are 2 funny side stories, one expanding on the setting and another expanding on the characters, the quality is consistent with the main episodes
one of them is more of the typical swimsuits scenario, hotsprings, containing several revealing costumes for the girls, more on the fan service side but the character interactions are still relevant and develop them further
the other has some action in it, revealing outfits too, relevant character interactions, and the most surprising story bit for the overall setting in the entire anime
8: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun: Tonari no Gokudou-kun
MAL Score: 7.12
The characters of Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun return for an anime original story in a parallel universe.
In addition to the characters being ‘off’, the plot is weak, and resolved multiple times by what I assume are blatant and intentional Deus ex Machina resolutions. You my find the nonsensical/quirky outcomes humorous (I think that was the intent), but in comparison to the original series, this episode is a bit of a let-down to say the least.
I don’t know why they made this. It’s not horrible, but it’s not very good either. It was probably created as ‘light-hearted’, intentional nonsense- but doesn’t quite pull it off.
Watch it if you want, just know it presents as a ‘proper (but bland) story’ for about 2/3rds before spiraling into insanity/obscurity. There is a reason the main series is ranked around 500 (good), and this one ranks in around 1700 (nowhere near as good). The reason is they are two completely different anime.
Promote ‘helpful’ reviews by actually pressing ‘helpful’!
Any reviews I write which get a ‘helpful’ rating under 30% I retire.
This OVA was overall just fun to watch; the whole time switch thing was iffy but opened room for randomness which had me laughing out loud a few times. Up until the half way point I was loving this, the way they were doing things was really working; I was thinking 10/10, but then things really went down hill and made you look back and think “was this really the whole plot?” and you look at it completely differently. The very end was quite strange and you wont see it coming from a mile away, it redeemed itself somewhat from the last minutes leading up to it but overall was not an ending I was hoping for, though the ending would have been superb if the conclusive ending was so stupid.
Overall 8/10, it was great starting out, ruined by a terrible plot, then partially redeemed with the final scene that should have been the plot the whole time.
The characters are stereotyped with their most memorable characteristics, and this is actually a really funny fact about the OVA, the comedy part you know?
The story starts great, but the end is absolutely bad. It’s really pushy to be funny, and because of that, the story is ruined and it was, at least for me, not funny.
I absolutely love the art and sound from Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, nothing to complain about it, it is really good, but not the best I’ve seen, but it’s still a really good point in it
It is a pretty OK OVA, not bad, not good, but at least we have an end, differently from the anime LOL
7: Koikishi Purely☆Kiss The Animation
Japanese: 恋騎士 Purely☆Kiss The Animation
MAL Score: 7.18
In the past as children, Kaname and Elcia were caught in a building in which a fire had broken out. Elcia got stuck under some rubble, and Kaname didn’t plan on giving up on her, even though it seemed hopeless. Just as Kaname was about to run out of strength, a modern-day knight saved them. After the incident, they both decided and promised each other to become knights and to protect and uphold justice and righteousness more than any other. Years later, they fulfill their promise to each other and work side-by-side to protect and uphold justice, while love starts growing in their hearts.
The story isnt really unique but I just want to make things clear. The two episodes are separate stories. This hentai is a VN so like any other VN there are different routes that you can choose from. The first episode is Elicia route and the second episode is Yuu Route so if you want to see the other routes of the two other heroines, I guess you just have to play the game.
The art style is very cute and well made I guess.
There`s nothing special to it. It`s like any other hentai. The moaning part is good and clear. You can even hear the sound of the MC sucking on those ni~ oops 😛 lets just leave that to your imagination, no spoilers right?
The characters huh? They`re all great but nothing new. You got a childhood friend and a sister who is a brocon so yeah, typical.
Like I mentioned earlier the sex scenes are hilarious so I really enjoyed it. It might not be the hentai that will really make you sweaty but it`s a cute light to the heart hentai. If you like those kind of hentai then watch this. It`s worth the time anyway.
So, this is an older hentai (well not super old, but not brand new either).
I actually remember with this hentai in particular, I watched it a while ago, and I had really liked it so I was sad when I didn’t remember the title. 🙁
Alas, I have found it! Feelsgoodman.
Okay, anyways review timee.
So the story of this anime is actually really good, I really liked it because you can focus on the relationship develop between both MCs. Most hentais are dont really focus on a genuine connection between characters, but this one did and thats what I liked about it. It was solely one on one and that is what made it more enjoyable in my opinion. I really like story lines where they grew up together and have romantic feelings for each other, and well thats basically the premises of this hentai.
The art is really good, pretty clear and smooth animation. The way they styled the animation was a bit different because basically I guess its a bit slower, they didn’t rush the lewd scenes too much. For the year it came out, I’d still say its pretty gold. 🙂
The characters, I really enjoyed, which is rare for a hentai because they make some pretty detestable people these days it feels like. As I said earlier, they have a genuine connection and the MC’s are very likable and strong willed. Again, I have no complaints about the characters I had a lot of “awhh” moments in this one, (besides all the lewd lol).
The lewdness was greatt, I loved that they both got super into it and there was plenty of material. :3
So overall, I’d give it about a 9 because I genuinely liked this hentai because the plot, characters, lewd scenes were all orchestrated very well together and it was thoroughly enjoyable. 🙂
When Roger Ebert saw Avatar, the visuals reminded him of when he first watched Star Wars. Indeed, when I watched Koikishi Purely kiss, I was reminded of when I saw Kanojo X Kanojo X Kanojo.
The animation is paramount to any normal non-H anime you’ve ever seen. Any hunter of hentai knows how hard it is to find a Hentai that doesn’t (A. Steal scenes from other hentai, B. Re-use footage over and over again, C. Suck) This is indeed one of the best animated hentais I have ever seen.
We got the blue haired main character and her love interest, Central Intelligence Agency, but we’ll just call her Cia, or Alcia. This hentai and it’s characters remind me a bit of SAO except it has more plot and likable characters than SAO could ever hope for. Indeed this couple is likable as much as a hentai can provide, even though that schtick in the middle where she thought he was cheating produced more laughs than sorrow.
For some strange reason, these people are supposed to be knights despite the fact that they appear to be living in modern day Japan, which leads me to think they are all on some wacky drug causing them to hallucinate.
Sad to see that the next episode will come in Spring 2014. But quality over Quantity, this is a fine hentai indeed. I watch alot of hentai, but this one was so good that I felt I had to write a worthless review about it, even though I usually don’t
6: High School DxD OVA
Japanese: ハイスクールD×D OVA
MAL Score: 7.29
#1: Oppai, Minorimasu! (Episode 13)
A rumor is going about the school about how girls are disappearing and coming back ill and with their breast size decreased.
#2: Oppai, Motomemasu! (Episode 14)
While observing how the others do their jobs so they can do theirs better, Issei and Asia go with Rias to see if a coffin is cursed. During the investigation Issei is possessed by an Egyptian magician named Unas, It just so happens that Unas is just as perverted as Issei. Unas will only leave Issei’s body if they can release Unas from the curse placed on him by a devil that Unas tried to make his bride.
(The Devil’s Advertisement)
Are you a woman feeling dissatisfied with having a flat chest?
Are you unable to afford those expensive surgical breast implants?
Are you unable to charm the man of your dreams because of your insecurity?
If you answered, “yes” to any of those question, fear not! For we, at the Devil’s Factory, have a new affordable product! Introducing our newest breast enhancers, the ‘D-Plant’!
1) What is the ‘D-Plant’?
– The ‘D-Plant’ is a crossbreed between a dragon and an insectivorous plant, it’s 100% organic and contains no chemical preservatives. Unlike most plants, this plant grows a unique fruit shaped like a breast, this breast fruit, if eaten, enhances and increases the bust size of any woman, regardless of how small they were before.
2) Who discovered this plant?
– That is an excellent question. This plant was first created by a crazy devil scientist named Maverick. But, then he got arrested and let the creature go free. Then, a boob-loving man named Issei and his group of sexy demon woman (with another guy), encounter this ‘horrible’ plant. Issei sympathizes with the plant because it wants the world fulled with large-breast women and wants to save it, but the girl don’t really like perverted animals or objects and destroy it. But, we, at the devil’s factory, managed to recreate it. So, please enjoy this excellent plant.
3) What does it eat? And how do I feed it?
– This plant doesn’t require any water or sunlight. In fact, you don’t need to feed it. It feeds on you! Now, don’t be discouraged, it doesn’t eat you, but rather it sucks on one’s breast, draining the spiritual energy from your body. At first, you may feel tired, but after a few weeks, you will regain your strength and much more. Furthermore, you may ‘feel’ a tingly pleasure from having your breast stimulated. This is intended to put the owner in a euphoric state, while feeding the plant. Overall, it’s a win-win for both you and the plant.
4) Are there any risks to owning this plant?
– Risks include: dangerous vines when being provoked, white liquid that dissolves one’s clothes (no skin damage), feeling of tiredness, being in a hypnosis state, and increased heaviness around the chest area.
If you aren’t convinced, here are the words of some previous customers:
Customer A – “I used to be a size ‘AA’, but after eating the fruit, my bust size increased to a ‘D’!”
Customer B – “I used to be insecure about having a small chest, but after owning the ‘D-Plant’, I became more confident!”
Call now and we will give you our limited supply of Egyptian Clothing. These Egyptian clothes are a pair of golden metal undergarments, upon wearing them, you will immediately feel the urge to dance and flaunt your breast. These undergarments are the perfect clothing to arouse your partner.
No refunds or exchanges. All sales are final.
Oh High School DxD, you crack me up. And I don’t say that about many ecchi shows, either. 😉
(Side note: If you didn’t watch the main show and/or didn’t like the series, then this is pretty much the same as the above and you’ll either be lost or won’t like it.)
Story (7/10): Really, nothing important goes on here, save for two antagonists that like to use the ‘tentacle vines/bandages’ technique and seeing what the other 3 members of the Occult Club do when summoned. But I still love all the jokes and we get the barest glimpse of 2 characters that will appear in the second season.
Art (9/10): Looks as good as the show, if not a little better. Granted, they need to chill out on the bounce to the ounce (boobs SERIOUSLY don’t work that way show. Cause that would hurt. >
Story 8/10 :
There’s no story in any of them, although they are labeled as episode 13 and 14 there’s no actual plot developtment or anything of the sort, it is, as you’d expect, pure fanservice. In episode 13 it’s just as the synopsis states, there’s girls with big breasts disapearing and that leads our protagonist to find more breasts which turns into a fight where we can see all the female leads’ breasts, pretty generic. Same thing goes on episode 14, Issei and Aria are checking how the other demons work and suddenly they come across a pervert who will of course cause the inevitable which is ripping all the clothes off our beloved female leads. There’s no adding to the original series storyline, these OVAs are really just to get you back into Highschool DxD for the upcoming 2nd season, they’ll have all the ecchi that you love that is for sure so you won’t regret that part, as far as anything else there’s not much to say, let’s be honest, this is just for the breasts.
Art 8/10 :
Same as in the previous series, nothing new to add to this
Same opening and ending theme so nothing to add to this as well
Characters 7/10 :
There’s no additional characters aside from the “perverted villian” but that one’s too generic to even judge so i’ll just consider the characters all the same because honestly none of them has chaned, yes not even Issei.
Enjoyment 10/10 :
Well when i first watched this series i was very into the fanservice so i must say i appreciated these OVAs but if you’re looking for something related to the original story, you won’t enjoy this as much.
Overall 8/10 :
You should watch these before getting into season 2 just so you get all fired up to see our dear protagonists’ breasts and panties. If you’re a true ecchi fan, this won’t let you down, if not then you should look somewhere else or wait for the 2nd season.
5: Aa! Megami-sama! (2011)
MAL Score: 7.34
OVAs bundled with volumes 42, 43 & 46 of the Aa! Megami-sama! manga.
Story, Art, Character: I gave all of it a mediocre 5.
Reason, nothing has change it still follows the same genre, it still about the romance between Belldandy and Keiichi with Urd and Skuld on the side the only consolation here was in the 2 and last episode was the introduction twin newbie goddess bitches Eir and Saga. Whom at first wants to challenge Belldandy, even mocking her but in the end the two were proven to be useless even at the last episode of the OVA. The art, so far was still the same, the only difference here is Urd who doesn’t sport a sexy look on the last episode.
Sound: Fair 6.
Though most of the seiyuu’s in this OVA are still the usual, but them seiyuus simply don’t have that younger appeal anymore, I kinda like the seiyuu’s who did Eir and Saga voices and so is the opening theme, the closing…not much.
Enjoyment and Overall: Decent 4.
The enjoyment for this OVA is decent enough to be enjoyed, but overall this OVA is not bad, but not good enough at all. It would have been better if studio AIC should have made a season 3, and replace the seiyuu’s with new ones since like I’ve said the usual seiyuu’s don’t have that younger tone anymore. If AIC wants to maintain the usual seiyuu’s for such season, then it would be advisable to level up the character’s, like Kiichiy graduated, Keiichi and Belldandy got married, Urd got promoted, Skuld grows up and get into a relationship, things like that could reinvent the series as a whole. Then gain who am I kidding, like that gonna happen.
It Did! (Well, kinda)
The first episode gets a 7. Im not really sure what they were trying to do with it and it was confusing and a disgrace to AMG.
The second one however… It was great! Exactly what i expected a AMG vid to be.
(Easter egg: The winner’s screen is written in Russian)
However, i am rating this a 9 because of the first one.
Should you watch it? Yes. (But watch the two seasons first, as there isn’t much explaining done.)
4: Date A Live: Date to Date
Japanese: デート ア ライブ DATE TO DATE
MAL Score: 7.35
Bundled with the 9th volume of the original novel, it is the unaired 13th episode of the TV series.
Like I said, there is no story. The OVA focuses on dates with Tobiichii and Tohka. Shidou no longer wants Tobiichii to be in love with him, so he and Kotori devises a plan to get her to hate him. However, the more he tries, the more she loves him (ish). Then, he goes on a date with Tohka because apparently her mental state is unstable.
The art is still as colorful and amazing as the series.
It only focused on Shidou, Tobiichii, and Tohka, with the members on the blip and Kotori making a brief entrance. Tobiichii’s reactions to Shidou’s weird comments made their date really hilarious to watch.
One of the phrases was, “I am also a siscon that sleeps with his sister when given the chance. I also take her panties out and sniff them.”
Tobiichii, “Is that so? That’s great.”
OVerall, if you were a fan of the series, then you would already know what you are getting into. If you liked the series, then you definitely would like the OVA.
in fact, it is quite amusing.
The protagonist opens the episode declaring he is a lolicon ( yes, I thought it was an error too ). unfortunately ( for me anyway ) this episode focuses on origami, and tohka.
The art is as crisp as ever and the song ( especially the introductions ) were quite pleasing.
if anything is lacking, I’d say it’s the characters but you should be ready for a static tohka and origami, after watching season 1.
as ever, tohka is lacking in brainpower – ” do you hate me shidou? ”
and origami is apathetic and kind of weird- “woof”
Well, if anything was the best, I’d say I liked shidou trying to get rid of origami ( sadly…)
Watch it! it will be a good memory refresher before season 2.
also notice the metaphor of kotori with her ribbons. its noticeable this episode ( if you noticed before, congrats!)
3: Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! OVA
MAL Score: 7.36
Limited edition episode included with pre-orders for the 13th and 18th light novel volumes.
Fast forward to 4 years later and they all grown up, a special visit by the parents to see how the 3 kids look like, It’s heart warming to see their parents back but of course being the souls, still wouldn’t know how the plane crashed. Hearing a marriage, well that shock me, this ova is a little bit rushed, could at least made this into a movie. Would give this a good rate if it continues until their marriage scene. I know some say incest marriage but they’re not really that releated.
Sora is totally different in her adult view compare to her 14 year view, her Haruhi resemblance is already disappeared in her adult view and look more mature as ever. Yutta well same as always. Background view are decent
Please the OST is really tear jerking
From my perspective, sora really change a lot, her tsundere trait may still be there but it became less in her adult view, Hina, well she really can do her own like going to school alone and can speak very well, Miu? She is inproduction to become an idol. Yutta? Going to work as a businessman? I guess and becoming a great father in making.
It seem to heart warming and enjoyable just only the ending part were really rushed, i rather wished to see how the marriage will go and how their life would be after the marriage, instead of leaving us imagining how their life might be, but i still give this 10/10 because their parents came back of course to check out on them, being the main role for this special visit.
How i wish they would make season 2. :/ or a movie at least
I must say that both of them are fulfiled with feels and emotions.
The first one is only emotions it goes around Hina. As always, out cute loli can’t get better.
The second one.. oh god.. It’s like the end of all the series? I want to believe it. I don’t want to spoiler but it has one of the most amazing endings ever. Characters have grown up 4 years and the girls are now in their new lives with their “papa”. Their parents come back from “the other world” just to check their little kids one more time
Always loved how the girls are drawn. Extremely cute..
Nothing so special, same OST I guess..
All the characters are perfect. I just love each of their personalities
Enjoyable OVAs, I really loved them.
I liked whole anime. It was great and after watching it I was like “eh what? it’s end? just like that?”. It was truly bad that anime just ended without anything and we were left with nothing but that uncertain feeling if girls were alright. We all knew how they were struggling and how hard it was for them. Happily enough, that OVA is sequel to main series.
I was truly overjoyed watching it, however it should be divided by two in my opinion. First one would stay OVA and second should be a movie.
First episode threw us into their old home with new character and left us without a word of explanation. How they ended up in their old home? What happened with Yuuta’s apartment? They were so many unanswered questions and this part of OVA was mostly ecchi… until very last part – Hina’s part where I was truly touched by her actions. Hina ran away from home! It was surprising and I wasn’t certain what to think about it, however I loved how it ended. It was nice part of anime and could stay as OVA.
Second episode was special. It’s something that should be animated as a Movie instead of OVA. There was a time skip 4 years into future. It was certain that characters developed well however a lot of story was missing and there was huge gap between what we seen and what we should see.
I think that spectator shouldn’t lose important events even if he can understand what’s going on after overlooking them. I felt uncertain about this time skip and then… a wedding? It was told that they struggled a lot and decided to get married. There was huge gap between what we knew and what OVA was about. It’s their life but we were watching over them from the beginning and I would love to watch over them until the very end. A movie would show us how they decided about marriage and what happened that they made their mind. Nice ending to it would be wedding itself.
“It’s been four years since that day. […] I bet they’ve really changed! […] This is our only chance, remember? And they only gave us one day to do it”. The only chance that girls’ parents got to see their children after 4 years of being in heaven.
I was feeling truly overjoyed and sad watching that. I felt like their parents that had to leave them without telling a word and came back to see if they are alright. I wanted to ask them about many thing but I wasn’t able to. I wanted to check them and ask if all is fine but I wasn’t able to. I was truly overjoyed that they matured a lot and they all became true family.
I think that second episode could have a movie instead of OVA and it would be much better however, I would sincerely recommend this anime (anime + OVAs) to everyone.
First episode was mediocre but second was amazing. I would never imagine that I will miss not my own kids and I will be missing them…
Characters were clearly outstanding and they developed truly well. They changed a lot from beginning of series and I loved these changes. I was surprised how girls matured, not only girls. Yuuta matured too. Characters were changing all time, it was just like in real life. Little events changed them a bit by bit. They had great times, time that they felt depressed and they were still doing their best and times that they regretted what they did. They were acting just like normal people, not dolls or fictional characters.
I have loved main story and the stories in OVAs were truly suitable. It was proper sequel but that time skip messed a lot and made huge gap between us and characters. Surprising thing was that this gap was kinda filled up during last episode and I was sincerely moved by what happened. I would give 10/10 if that gap wasn’t created and I would be able to watch whole story.
It was nothing special and I can’t say a lot about it.
2: Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. OVA
MAL Score: 7.59
One morning, Hachiman Hikigaya contemplates the superfluous nature of marriage and its misleading image of happiness. However, he is forced into confronting his skepticism when the Volunteer Service Club is tasked with assisting a local municipal magazine advertise the allure of marriage to younger people. Unfortunately, neither the club’s advisor, Shizuka Hiratsuka, nor the other club members have any firsthand experience with the subject. With only one week until the deadline, the group must quickly learn about the intricacies behind the special ceremony, even if they have to resort to more creative means!
The story has nothing to do with the TV version, it’s just a side story. The story wasn’t anything special but the comedy is what carried the OVA, It’s top notch, perhaps even surpassing the TV serie’s comedy. Basicly Hiratsuka-Sensei (Their teacher) has to write about marriage and asks the Volunteer Servie club after help since she’s hopeless when it comes to marriage, they agree, naturally. So they spend an entire day in the club room coming up with and later doing those hilarious ideas. There are a lot of funny and memorable moments throughout the OVA – Such as Hachi’s obsession with Totsuka Saika (The trap) or the usual genius dialogues between Hachiman and Yukino. You know, the good ‘ol stuff.
there’s not really much to complain about the characters, It’s the usual gang – Hachi moping about how boring life is, cold-hearted Yukino with her facts, and the cute trap for the fan-service of course. So there’s not really any character development present, just fan service! The art and sound? Almost identical to the TV version. they really didn’t hold back on the production value considering it’s only an OVA.
So If you want a relief episode that surely will bring laughter and a big smile to your face, then I can guarantee that this won’t dissapoint you.
Marriage is weird isn’t it? You basically devote the rest of your life to one person and if it all goes okay you don’t die alone. The OVA attempts to address marriage in a way we young’uns can understand.
The story is nothing special. The service club is commissioned to fill the space of a magazine that will advertise the town as a hotspot for weddings and make marriage more appealing to younger people. To do this they send out a survey to their class and find that the overall idea of marriage among high school students is lacking. They attempt to gain a better understanding of marriage by asking Komachi because she takes care of Hikigaya. She issues a series of “marriage challenges” that all of the characters participate in. This includes cooking, trivia and wearing a bridal gown, all of which were fun to watch.
The art and sound was standard to the series, and the dialogue made me laugh a lot even though it was pretty much the same as the series.
What irked me was the sexist portrayal of marriage. The writers seemed to paint a picture of marriage as something where the majority of the work is done by women for the men and none of that should be questioned. The trivia section made this extremely evident because the questions posed were how to be the perfect housewife.
While everyone (including Hikigaya) gave varied and valid answers, all of them were shot down and replaced with Komachi’s ideal answer. What I got from it is that there is a specific way wives are supposed to treat their husbands and their family. In this way the writers have restricted what marriage really is and replaced it with a sexist ideal.
Maybe I shouldn’t take it so seriously, but in a series with strong female characters I expected more than this.
Watch it because it’s entertaining. However, be wary and treat your SO equally.
Story: you wont find a story with this just a special OVA with all the characters writing stuff for a marriage thing and also doing stuff like that nothing really going on here
Art: art was the same as the main anime so yeah nothing bad
Sound: its the same OP and ED so nothing knew but nothing bad about it either
Character: honestly i will not say anything about this most of the main and side characters you’ve are in this OVA and are the same so yeah
Enjoyment: like what someone in the popular review said i honestly enjoyed this more than the anime (in terms of comedy) because this pulled it off better and the main anime didn’t but otherwise yeah
Overall: ill say this you dont have to watch this because this doesnt follow the legit anime just a side off episode but this was better than the actual anime to me atleast
1: Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA
MAL Score: 8.00
Two OVA episodes bundled with the 16th volume of the manga.
One of the included episodes is based on the story from the 15th volume, while the other contain an all-new original story.
In this bundle consisting of two OVAs we get to see our beloved characters Nanami, Tomoe, and of course the loveable baby Mizuki. Sadly, the OVAs can easily be dismissed as generic. We have the typical Nanami who over thinks things, and tries to impress a Tomoe who never needed to be impressed. She tries to assert her independence, and ultimately ends up making a fool of herself in the attempt. Still, it’s nice to see how the Tomoe x Nanami relationship has slightly changed into a closer one where Tomoe’s more open.
On an ending note, the music was blissful, from the beginning to the end. The little scenes where everything becomes quiet and all you hear is a beautiful tune will never get old. The ending of the OVA seemed to leave a little mystery though, perhaps hinting towards something more in the future. I’d suggest giving this a watch if you enjoyed the original anime, it won’t do any harm.
The story is as generic as an OVA for a shoujo anime can get, so the quality of it is not even close to the anime. It’s basically just some sweet moments from their daily life, and that’s about it. I mean, it’s an OVA so I guess it’s fair.
The sound was also a little bad, although maybe the fault was at the source I watched it on, who knows.
Overall, you won’t really regret not watching this, but if you’re looking for some boring romantic scenarios then go on, I guess.
(Story: 5/10, art: 6/10, sound: 5/10, character: 7/10, enjoyment: 5/10)
