Faction Cheat Sheet

Factions in Dalsaam as of 1108  C.L.:

Tamirian Empire:

TL;DR: Liege lord of Ad Astra Society and City Council of Aestus. Dislikes human trade republics, neutral to Qunari, at war with Southern Vedalken Kingdoms. Mostly Vedalken of Sequitur religion.

Geography and demographics: The Tamirian Empire (or Tamirian Imperium) control territories from Viidus Elbi in the west, to foreign cities in the far East, unified in 776 C.L. The Tamirian Empire is ruled by the Emperor Janus III and his family, seated in the city of Tibur, and consists of petty Kingdoms, Trade Republics, Duchies and other entities that are relatively free to rule themselves, as long as they pay taxes and provide soldiers to the Emperor. Vassals in the region of Eurytania are the Ad Astra Society who rule Viidus Elba, and the City Council of Aestus, who rule Aestus, Tar Valon, Abattis Villa, Mazaca and villages along the coast to the north of Viidus Elba. The inhabitants of the Tamirian Empire are mostly Vedalken.

Religion: The Theory of the Form originated in what is now parts of the Tamirian Empire, eons ago. In the early 700’s C.L., the rise of the Secaian denomination was ushered in as the False Emperor Averianus II named it the one true version of the faith. As a response, Janus the Great forged an alliance between the kingdoms and cities of the Tamirian peninsula who had resisted this wrongful adaption of the Theory of the Form, and crushed the False Emperor. Janus the Great then unified the kingdoms into the glorious Tamirian Empire, and named the old and true denomination the Sequiturs, meaning “The Followers”. In the Tamirian Empire today, the Sequitur teachings are most commonly accepted, with about 70% of the population following the belief. The Secaian have a smaller, but growing following of about 10-20% and the rest are unbelievers, heathens, cultist, sect followers and followers of Animal Gods or similar archaic beliefs.

Economy: The Tamirian Empire controls vast areas. The Emperor rules inland towns, coastal cities, mountain towns and farming villages. The economy of the Empire as a whole is difficult to characterise as it is all-encompassing and varied, with vassals who are free to trade as they themself wish.

Geography and demographics: The Ad Astra Society is a vassal of the Tamirian Empire. The society was founded by Elbus the Learned and other scholars in the early 600’s C.L, and has continued to grow and expand since then, due to great management skills, careful choosing of alliances and iron-handed control of their subjects. The Ad Astra Society currently control the city of Viidus Elbi and the surrounding farmlands, employing their specially trained guard force, The Shield of Elbus, to keep the peace. The Ad Astra Society is devoted to scientific research and development of the Heatshaping skill, running the largest academy for Heatshapers and owning the second largest public library in the known world. The Ad Astra Society is a multispecies organisation, but the vast majority of inhabitants in Viidus Elbi and surrounding farmlands are Vedalken. The Ad Astra Society has recently made initial attempts to colonise the Bog.

Religion: Most members of the Ad Astra Society follow the Sequitur denomination of The Theory of the Form, although there is a significant secular population. The lower and middle class inhabitants of Viidus Elbi mostly swear to Sequitur faith as well, but a version that is influenced heavily by the mysteries of the Bog.

Economy: The Ad Astra Society offer their Heatshaping skills and services to the other factions of the world, as well as serving as advisors and experts on large numbers of topics. Students are trained from a young age and vow to serve the society for life, supporting the Society as they are employed over all corners of the world. The Tamirian Empire employs a large amount of offensive Heatshapers in their armies, but has banned the society from offering military and mercenary services to any other faction.
