Sacrifice(5e)

  • Overview: Most worship of evil gods, powers, and fiends require the sacrifice of a still living intelligent creature. The celebrant(s) is(are) the individual(s) that commit(s) the sacrifice of the creature. The sacrifice must be immobilized and is commonly humanoid, but the only true stipulations are that of the one being honored and an intelligence of at least 6 for the victim. ALL sacrifices must be done in a proper ritual, in a place that the entity approves. When done correctly the celebrants conducting the sacrifice might get a boon. 

  • Base Requirements: All entities that have the power to give an amount of power has the following requirements for sacrifice.

    • Altar- Place of worship of the fell patron.

    • Desecrated/Unhallowed ground- A patch of land where malevolence is tangible.

    • Ceremony- The ceremony should be time consuming. Anywhere from an hour to days.

  • Sacrifice Reward System: Religion(Int) is applied to total and stacks with. 

    • Elements: The more elements used during the sacrifice the higher the possible boon. These are added to the existing Religion(Int) score for the duration. If the sacrifice is willing, a hated being, a member of a race hated by the being, or a member of a religion hated by the being you gain advantage.

      • Sacrifice Elements

        • Conducted in the presence of a servant of the being: +4

        • Conducted publicly: +4

        • Conducted before 10 or more followers: +1

        • Conducted before 100 or more followers: +4

        • Sacrifice is tortured for a day: +1

        • Sacrifice is tortured for over a week: +2

        • Sacrifice is good aligned: +2

        • Sacrifice is neutral aligned: +1

        • Sacrifice is “pure or virginal”: +3

        • Sacrifice CR 6-9: +1

        • Sacrifice CR 10-15: +2

        • Sacrifice CR 15-20: +3

    • Boons: The elements used during sacrifice stack to decide the possible boon(s) gifted the celebrants. 

      • Sacrifice Boons

        • 0-10

          • The celebrant(s) receive advantage on all checks for an ability score for 24 hours.

          • The celebrant(s) gain an extra spell slot for 1d6 hours.

          • A servant of the being with a CR of 3 or lower is summoned for 1d4 hours, and is controlled by the leading celebrant.

          • The celebrant(s) recieve the ability to cast a third level spell, appropriate for the deity they're appeasing(ask DM) five times for 24 hours. 

        • 10-20

          • The celebrant(s) gain two extra spell slot for 1d6 hours.

          • The celebrant(s) gain +4 profane bonus to attack rolls for 1d6 hours.

          • A servant of the being with a CR of 9 or lower is summoned for 1d4 hours, and is controlled be the leading celebrant.

          • The celebrant(s) recieve the ability to cast a sixth level spell, appropriate for the deity they're appeasing(ask DM) five times for 24 hours.

          • The celebrant(s) gain immunity to a condition, damage type, or effect, appropriate for the deity for 24 hours. 

        • 20-30

          • The celebrant(s) weapon(s) become infused with the energy of their deity, causing damage from a type appropriate of them, for 24 hours.

          • The celebrant(s) don’t suffer from loss of Purity and Sanity for 1d6 hours.

          • The celebrant(s) recieve the ability to ask their deity for a wish(that acts as the spell of the same name).

          • The celebrant(s) can use the plane shift spell as a free action to the deity’s realm for 1d8 hours.

          • The celebrant(s) again access to a ninth level spell slot.

          • A high level servant of the being(max CR 22) is summoned for 1d4 hours, and is controlled by the leading celebrant.
