Threz’s Death Cursed Blade

Necromancy cantrip

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: Self (5-foot radius)

Components: S, M (a melee weapon worth at least 1 sp)

Duration: 1 round

You curse the weapon used in the spell’s casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects and then becomes cursed until the start of your next turn. If the target regains hit points by any means, they regain no hit points and instead takes 1d8 necrotic damage, and the spell ends.

At Higher Levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target on a hit, and the damage the target takes from regaining hit points increases to 2d8. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level (2d8 and 3d8) and again at 17th level (3d8 and 4d8).

7th-level necromancy

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 60 feet

Components: V, S, M (a diamond worth at least 300 gp, which the spell consumes)

You use the same techniques to bring someone back from death to steal the life force within them. Choose on target within range, if that target is a creature, it must make a Constitution Saving Throw. If the creatures is undead or been brought back to life before, they make this saving throw with Disadvantage as the spell severs the bonds that brought them back. On a failed save, the target suffers 10d8 necrotic damage, and half as much damage on a successful save. You then regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage the creature took.

If the target is reduced to 0 hit points by this spell, they die instantly and cannot be brought back to life by any means short of a Wish spell, as a portion of their soul is traded in the casting of this spell. If the Caster of this spell ever dies, the soul of any creature that they killed with this spell is released and can be resurrected by normal means.

Spell List. Cleric, Warlock, Wizard
