What do you want from an Upwork alternative?

For an Upwork alternative to be working for real, the following things have to change for the better.

Here is my list:

  • I want to pay a flat freelance service fee. If possible no more than 10%. Meaning, Upwork’s sliding fees system isn’t working for me.
  • I don’t want to pay a monthly membership fee. No membership fees, period.
  • There should be NO limits of any kind of how many times you can bid. Fun fact: this is one of the most common reasons for freelancers’ suspension on Upwork.
  • I don’t want to pay for additional bids or connects if I want to submit additional proposals.
  • Usually, you have to wait for 2 to 3 weeks to get paid on Upwork. I want to get paid the very next week after I submit my work.
  • There shouldn’t be any kinds of restrictions for new freelancers. Meaning, you don’t have to worry that your application will be rejected because there are too many freelancers with a similar skill set. Let’s face it. How many horror stories have you heard about newbie freelancers having such a difficult time going through the application and verification process on Upwork with no success? Why?
  • Upwork doesn’t allow you to use social media accounts on your profile. They’re afraid that you may take the work outside the platform. That shouldn’t be the case. I want to be free to do whatever I like when it comes to my profile.

Am I asking too much? Is there such an alternative to Upwork?

I think I’ve found it.
